I Love Tulips and My Actifit Report Card: January 23 2025

Tulips

One of my favorite flowers is tulips! These flowers are one of the first flowers I see in Spring, not only these are great looking flowers that come in various varieties they are also perennial, meaning that they will come back every year, though if you want them to stay as gorgeous as they were the first year you cannot just leave them in the ground.

Red and White Tulips

The picture of red and white tulips above is one I took at the tulip festival in Mount Vernon, Washington. That is where I bought the tulips that I planted and took pictures of. So where you see a field of tulips you see the pictures I took at the tulip festival and the rest are the tulips that I planted and took pictures of at my house.

Pink Tulip

The tulip above is one of my favorites and is called Pink Impression and was introduced in 1979 which is only three years after I was born! I took this picture using my Canon 5D with a 200 millimeter lens.

I used to be into photography, but my specialty was portrait and fashion photography. I always liked taking pictures of people as I found it more challenging and therefore more interesting.

White Tulip

I guess tulips were a rare exception to that rule :) The tulip above is called Snowboard and was first introduced in 2007. This tulip blooms early in Spring and is a pleasure to look at.

Purple Tulip

Here we have a set of purple tulips called Negrita. It is a really nice looking and long lasting tulip which also blooms early in Spring. It was first introduced in 1970 which is years before I was born!

I like planting tulips of the same color together as a bush, because they make for a great accent in the garden.

Pink and Red Tulips

In the image above you see two types of tulips: Ile de France red tulips in the background and I believe Pink Emperor tulips in the front.

The two tulips on the front right look like a couple to me :)

Above is a closer look at the two...

Red, White and...

Here is how these tulips look together, you can see that some of the tulips on the left are later bloomers and are behind the others.

Tulip Fields
Of course it is difficult to compete with a field of tulips at the tulip festival in Skagit County, Washington. But when you plant tulips at home you don't have to drive anywhere and can enjoy your tulips any time of the day for days until they stop blooming

Tulip Fields

Interesting story, when I started dating my wife, I tried to invite her to my place while the tulips were still in bloom and I told her about it. She must have been thinking I am strange and she probably thought that I was trying to invite her to my place faster under the pretense of seeing the tulips :)

She never made it to the tulips that year as she was busy travelling and by the time she was back the tulips were done with blooming.

Purple ones

I also like yellow tulips, that is definitely not one of my wife's favorite colors for flowers, but I really like them:

Golden Emperor

These tulips are called Golden Emperor and were introduced in 1957 which is way before my time.

Here is a close up shot of these:

Yellow Tulip

And here is a picture of my son taking some of his early steps in the field of tulips at the tulip festival many years ago! He is going to be twenty four this year...

Many ears ago...

Here are a few more shots of the tulips that I took:

and as a group:

Hopefully you have enjoyed looking at my pictures of tulips:

Here is a small collage I made out of tulip pictures:

Tulips

Gardening is my other hobby besides Splinterlands.

Steps wise yesterday was a good day and I made it over eleven thousand steps.

All of the images you see in this post were taken by me.

Beautiful photos of the tulip fields my friend!👍 😀
I have always been into photography as well, and with the advent of digital photography I can snap to my heart's content without worrying about developing rolls of film!😇
I did so like film...... it's kind of sad that it's gone!

Thanks! I did start with a film camera back in early 90s. But once digital came out I switched and never looked back!

Amazing photographs. I have been staying in Holland for almost 3 years and still haven't seen full-bloomed tulip fields. I heard that they are just gorgeous so probably this year I will manage time to visit a tulip farm...

You should definitely visit a tulip farm! It is quite an experience though our daughter was more excited about all the dirt instead of tulips when she was five or six years old.

Flowers make me smile. Lots of flowers brought me lots of smiles. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos. I do like tulips too but it's too hot here to grow them I believe. I do wish I could have more flowering plants but at this time, I only have a container garden. Happy weekend!

Thank you, glad that you liked them. You are probably right, tulips like cold and very limited moisture.
