My Actifit Report Card: July 5 2024 - End-of-Year Fun and Farewell
The end of the school year is always bittersweet: a whirlwind of activity tinged with exhaustion.
Last jobs need completing, classrooms prepped for summer, and special events organized.
Today was no different, with my colleague and I emptying the classroom to make room for a celebratory picnic.
Parents were invited to join their children for a fun-filled morning marking the end of the school week before the official summer break.
While some kids would continue for a few more weeks with a special vacation program, today was a day for pure celebration.
A feast of delicious treats awaited everyone – cupcakes, sandwiches, fruit skewers, wraps – all brought by the parents.
The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with laughter, conversation, and the joy of children's performances.
We bid farewell with well wishes for a happy summer break, looking forward to a healthy and well-rested return in August.
One unexpected highlight was the beautiful gifts we received from parents.
It's humbling to be appreciated for simply doing our job. Every year, my desk overflows with heartfelt tokens – homemade jams, chocolates, scented candles – accompanied by touching notes.
During our shortened lunch break (thanks to all the remaining work!), my colleague grabbed a quick sandwich, while I savored a delicious spelt roll filled with roast beef, bean sprouts, spring onions, and a delightful teriyaki sauce. With renewed energy, we tackled the afternoon tasks.
The afternoon brought a fun activity with the older children: an "arrow walk" scavenger hunt.
The group divided into two, one team drawing arrows on the ground to lead the second team on a quest.
The hidden first team added an element of surprise to the game.
We navigated through the warm sunshine, the group buzzing with anticipation as they searched for their hidden classmates.
The day ended with target practice, a crucial part of the upcoming weekend's big competition.
It was a long day, but as I cycled home under the setting sun, a sense of satisfaction mixed with tiredness filled me.
