in search for the light : June 23 2025

i love this photo which clearly showed how tall that lamp post and the bridge arches were. sometimes you just don't realize how big and tall things really are; because things are commonly and often seen, sizes are taken for granted. i have always walked over this bridge and i knew that it was big. but even i was surprised of how tall and big t really was. anyway, i am submitting this photo to the street photography contest of photofeed.

now let us get on with that blogging.

i was pretty sure where i wanted to go this time. for the past days, i was craving for chocolate coated almonds. you might say that that is pretty accessible but i was craving for this specific brand which offered the chocolate in a larger container instead of the usual thin boxes.

i was pretty much walking faster, i immediately overtook people i was walking along side. that was until this man in white crept at my side and walked past me with ease. this got me fired up, and walked faster. i can't. i just can't. his legs seemed longer and just moved quick. my ego was crushed at this point. i was just glad he turned left at one point never to be seen again.

this is what usually happens when taking pictures of moving things at night, things get blurry. my simple phone camera could not handle night photography that well. this was a yakitori shop by the way, a chicken skewer shop.

a little after this shop, i reached the bridge and took the initial photo of this blog.

reached the shopping area but unfortunately there was nothing new over here. nothing new was probably the best thing, hope that manifests with the chocolate shop as well. i visited other branches of that shop but i couldn't find the almond. i really hoped to buy that in here this time.

as a nightwalker, i always try to capture photos of interesting things along the way. no one told me to do so, but that makes things interesting to blog. aside from taking pictures of places, taking pictures of people is of equal interest. i just need to be careful enough not to breach their privacy or for sure i will be called in by the police.

i wonder who or what this person is waiting for. i got to give him enough space to do his thing. but a black and white editing made him extra lonely, is that how black and whites are supposed to make you feel?

i got in the shop and was very glad that the chocolate i was craving for was still sold in there. a part of me wanted to buy more than one container, i had to fight that thought very hard. i ended up buying one and headed home.

for some reason, this picture of a boat docked seemed so sad. very lonely mood in fact, i guess this bluish light added more to that coldness. it really amazes me how colors affects how pictures are perceived.

and compare that picture to this one of a warmer light, gone are the cold mood. it feels festive in a way, but still a bit lonely probably because of the lack of a soul.

let me note though that the road leading to this shrine had a history plaque; it was a historical road used in olden times and that excited me a bit. but then it mentioned that nothing was left of that historical road. i mean, it is still a road up to this day, but there is nothing original left of what it used to be. does that mean that japan values the emotions even if there are no relics left?

that got me thinking until i reached home.
