Sand, Waves & A Sky On Fire Our Afternoon Beach Escape Was Made Perfect By A Stunning Golden-Hour Sunset

On our trip to the beach this afternoon was so much funhonestly it’s exactly the kind of spontaneous adventure we needed to break out of our usual routine! 😊

It all started around two o’clock when the heat inside our house was just unbearable. We had been lazing around all morning trying to stay cool with fans and cold drinks but nothing seemed to work.

Then my younger sibling suddenly jumped up from the couch and said “Hey why are we just sitting here? Let’s go to the beach!” At first we just laughed it off but then we looked at each other and thought why not? Within minutes we were all rushing around grabbing things we’d need. I threw our swimsuits into a bag while my older cousin packed a cooler with ice cold bottled water cans of soda and a bunch of snacks chips homemade sandwiches and those little mango candies we all love.

My auntie tossed in a small woven mat and a couple of towels and before we knew it we were piling into the car and heading out.

The drive there only took about twenty minutes but it felt like forever because we were all so excited. When we finally pulled up near the shore the first thing we noticed was how the ocean seemed to glow the sun was still high enough to cast its golden rays across the water making every little wave sparkle like it was covered in tiny diamonds.

Kids were already running around building sandcastles their giggles carrying across the beach and a few groups were wading out into the shallow water with snorkels probably looking for colorful fish in the reef just off the coast. We did not waste any time we changed into our swimwear right there in the car and ran straight toward the sea.

The water was absolutely perfect – cool enough to beat the heat but not so cold that it made you shiver.

We spent ages splashing around, playing tag in the waves, and trying (and failing) to stand still whenever a bigger swell came rolling in. My cousin kept teasing me because i had lose my balance every single time sending us both into fits of laughter that made our stomachs hurt. We even tried to race each other out to where the water was deeper though i totally cheated by cutting across a calmer patch don’t tell anyone!

As the afternoon started to wind down we could feel the air getting a little cooler and the sun beginning its slow descent toward the horizon. We dragged our mat over to a spot right by the water’s edge and sat down to watch the sunset. Wow i will never get tired of how beautiful sunsets are here. The sky went through every shade you can imagine bright yellow near the sun then soft orange deep pink and finally a rich red that painted the whole horizon.

The way the colors reflected off the ocean made it look like we were sitting in front of a giant canvas.

We pulled out our snacks and ate while we watched people still enjoying the beach couples walking hand in hand along the shore families taking photos, even some locals setting up small bamboo huts and grills for what looked like an evening barbecue. We stayed until the sky turned dark purple and the first few stars started to peek through when a light breeze picked up and we realized we were getting a bit chilly.

On the drive back home we were all quiet not because we were tired (though we definitely were), but because we were still soaking in how perfect the day had been. We had sand absolutely everywhere in our hair stuck to our skin even in the car seats but none of us cared one bit. It was exactly what we needed.

Hope we can do this again soon next time im definitely bringing a portable grill and some fresh fish so we can cook right there on the beach! 🤩
