The child of yesterday still calls my name,
A soft whisper, a glowing flame.
With wonders so wide and dreams so tall,
They danced where golden sunbeams and rain fall.

They chased the stars, they ran with the breeze,
Their laughter drifted through the trees.
No fear of time, no weight of the past or stress of the future,
Just endless moments of joy meant to last.

But days move on, and years unfold,
The hands grow firm, the heart grows old.
Yet in the hush of fading light,
The child within still burns so bright.

Through echoes deep and memories,
They remind me where I once begun.
And though the world may pull away,
The child of yesterday will stay.
