You might want to use such token tipping commands under the posts and comments of "my fellow classmates"! 🤣😂

With 7 of "my classmates" having their own respective Hive account and they would soon post or comment regularly, you might have a hard time conserving your Hive token tipping allocation for the day! 🤯😆

For now, my ministry is in theological education. I stopped pastoring a local church in 2021.

It's good that @mariamaryann5 and @bordagul published their first trial post. It's good also that @eonniechan23 came up with her creative avatar.

If you have time, you can update your profile. It's up to you whether you will choose your own real photo or you prefer an avatar.

Once you find time, it is better to introduce yourself to the community and use the following tags: #ocd #hiveph #newbie #introblog #cent #pob #hive-engine

Check this article for you to have a model for what to write about your introduction post.

In my reading on this topic, I learned that the nature of religion is not just a categorized aspect of human life but a comprehensive influence that shapes our thoughts, feelings, and actions. And by recognizing the comprehensive nature of religion we can avoid isolating our spiritual lives from our daily experiences and relationships.

Yeah, that's what they call a "holistic" concept of religion. Such a concept is opposed to any dualistic notion or a fragmented view of life. In today's culture, they say religion has nothing to do with the public space, as if there is a sphere of life that the Lord does not rule. Consequently, public life has been disconnected from something sacred.

A great start on your Hive journey, @mariamaryann5!

With the vast number of religions today, I initially saw religion as a set of beliefs that people follow to communicate with and experience God. However, through my reading, I discovered that it goes far beyond that. Religion is broad and complex, making it difficult to define due to the diverse perspectives and interpretations people hold. Its essence is profound and multifaceted, not something that can be easily explained in simple terms.

I’ve learned that religion has two foundational aspects: (1) the objective part, which deals with God's revelation in both the Old and New Testaments, and (2) the subjective part, which is expressed as the fear of God in the Old Testament and as faith and godliness in the New Testament. At first, I struggled to grasp this idea, but as I continued reading, I understood it.

Additionally, I agree with Bavinck’s modern objection, which highlights how religion is often seen as something external rather than a matter of the heart. Today, when we hear the word religion, the first thing that often comes to mind is a set of beliefs and practices—or is it just me? The personal experience and revelation of God within a particular religion are often overlooked, perhaps because of the distinctiveness of each faith tradition.

I've also often heard the saying that a relationship with the Lord is more important than religion. However, I’ve come to realize that this idea is somewhat contradictory. Religion is just as important as our relationship with God. Without biblical truths, we cannot truly live according to His will. Our beliefs shape our actions, and religion plays a significant role in guiding how we live out our faith.

Moreover, I agree with Bavinck that while we can appreciate the similarities among world religions, we must not fall into the temptation of compromising our distinctiveness. Christianity is unique—it is both an inclusive and exclusive faith. We all stand in need of God’s saving grace.

You got it. I am happy that you got these three key ideas from your readings:

  • The objective and subjective aspects of religion.

  • The fallacy of the popular idea that a relationship with God can exist without religion.

  • And finally, affirming similarities among religions does not mean that there is no distinction among them.
