Phone Photography Contest - #72 - Cousin Duty
When Your Little One Becomes the Big Boss!
Ever had one of those moments when your child suddenly transforms into a mini adult, taking care of everything and everyone around them? Makes you feel good and proud, right?
That was my daughter today.. She’s my only daughter and she has two cousins, but she’s a full-time “mom” when these three little goblins get together..
Today, we had a quick getaway, just the perfect day to relax and recharge. But my daughter didn’t get the memo,, instead of reading her book in a cozy corner like the usual... Instead, she took on the role of “cousin caretaker extraordinaire.” And the things she does? Absolutely hilarious..😁
First, we had the knee-deep pool for kids. I kid you not, I thought it was only water up to the little ones' ankles. But here comes my daughter, monitoring her cousin like she’s guarding a secret treasure. “Don’t go too deep” she warns. “The water will get you!” At one point, she had her cousin’s hand in a death grip, making sure she didn’t take one step closer to the "danger zone" aka the pool that wouldn’t even drown a goldfish. 😂
But wait, it didn’t stop there. We sat down to eat, and my daughter was all business. She made sure her cousin wasn’t going to pick up any stray crumbs off the floor. “No! We don’t eat from the ground!” she said, pointing like a little boss. And when her cousin wasn’t paying attention, she gently took the cookie from her hand, reminding her, “That’s for after lunch, okay?” Spoiler alert: the cookie disappeared in my daughter’s hands when nobody was looking. 🤭
And just when I thought things couldn’t get cuter, I caught my daughter whispering to her cousin, “Don’t worry, I’ll save you!” Then, she grabbed a toy from the table, pretending to shield her cousin from the "mean adults" (aka us). Talk about adorable and 100% pure heart.
It’s so funny to see how big our little ones can feel when they’re with their cousins. Maybe my daughter is already practicing for the future, or maybe she just loves the drama of it all. Either way, I couldn’t be prouder of my tiny caretaker. One day, she’ll be running her own daycare, and I'll be the one sneaking the snacks! Feels good 😊

Mini adult, haha!
Without a doubt, that moment not only makes one feel good but also proud. I really enjoyed your complete blog. But I am wondering where your daughter must have learned to become a mother. This shows how much you take care of your loved ones.😊 She is just like you!
