The Immeasurable Joy of Picking Up Atis from Our Own Tree in the Backyard

There's still a lot of fruit in our atis tree, because of that, Mama is always happy, always looking up to check if there's already some ripe ones that can be harvested. She's always excited to harvest the atis because that means she still has more atis that she can snack on, could be in the morning or afternoon. Sometimes she ate that as her breakfast too. I am not really a fan of atis, I rarely eat it, to be honest. ಥ‿ಥ So Mama could enjoy it together with the oldies. Although atis tastes good, I don't know why I can't convince myself to eat it. I can eat it, but maybe just once or twice, but Mama can eat two to three in a day, haha. Her love for that fruit is just so much, haha. Do you like Atis? (^._.^)ノ

So every day, whenever Mama spotted a big atis that was about to ripen, she would get her long and heavy bamboo stick to harvest some of it. It's fun to watch her because there are times that she can't catch it, and it will fall directly to the ground, but sometimes in her face. Sorry, I just can't stop laughing at the sight. Mama will just laugh at it too whenever it happens, lol. In some way, that can actually help me too whenever I am in a bad mood or feeling down.

So today is just that day, she harvested Atis again in the tree and see how long her bamboo stick is? Haha. It's so long she can even pick the Atis on the very top. It's quite heavy too, but that's a good quality fruit picker right there, haha.

She actually had to cut a portion of the bamboo to make it shorter and now she can handle it more without its heavy weight as the problem.

Here's the first pick, fresh but not ripe yet. It will take days before it ripens. She will surely put this in her rice box later, lol. Putting any fruit in your rice box will help the fruit ripen faster, that's according to the oldies. Do you do that too in your unripe fruits like avocado, mango or atis?

And here's the second harvest. I am not sure why the quality of this atis become like this. They turn black sometimes and now it has that white thing in between of it. But the taste is still good even with that so Mama will just clean it thoroughly.

Here's the third harvest, this one is of good quality, but it falls into the ground so it's skin has some scratch. But either way, that can't affect the taste of the fruit so it's daijoubu. Lol. And look at that cute shape of the atis, it's a hearteuuuuuu (✿ ♡‿♡)

And oops, someone decided to visit the atis tree, it's MayMay, I am urging her to pick some Atis for us but as you can see, her brain cell is not functioning well right now (≧▽≦).

So there's still a lot of Atis in the tree. We are so thankful with this plenty fruits. I hope it give us another good produce next time ♪ \(^ω^\ ).

I don't think so but, I remember seeing a similar fruit when I was traveling in a neighboring tropical country.

It's the little things like this that sometimes hit home the most . Your mom looks so happy , and it's transmitted to readers like me . The moment when you caught the fish was epic 😂 but that's how warm and full of laughter your relationship is .

I remember my late grandmother , who also loved fruits from her own garden . It feels so different to pick your own from the tree at home , not only in terms of taste but also memories .

Thanks for sharing this story . It's simple but touching . May the atis tree continue to be a source of smiles in your home ..🍃

Your post brought some childhood memories back. In Venezuela we call that fruits anón. I used to get some from a neighbor's. Over the years that fruit disappeared from my town (like a few others). Delicious fruit!

Ohh, anón 🤔, so cool you have this too in your country. Sad though that you can't find them in your town now. They taste really good. Its just hard to eat it coz it has a lot of seeds.

Wow! Your yard looks so pretty. I've never had the chance to see fruit like that before. The lovely visitor looks happy in your backyard, too!

By the way, I still haven’t had the chance to try the Adobo you introduced me to, but I did find some potato chips called Adobo. I got a small taste of traditional Filipino food through the chips!
