Wintery walk
My daughter stopped over yesterday morning on her way for a snowy walk in the woods. The sun was shining and temperatures would begin dropping later in the day, so she decided it would be the best opportunity to get out and enjoy the forest.
When my kids were growing up we lived in the forest so they were able to go out the back door and go for a hike no matter what the season was, and they grew up with an appreciation of nature.
There was even a perfect hill so that they could go sledding and snowboarding.
Now she lives in town and must drive to areas where she can be outdoors in natural areas, but she remembered to take photos so that we could enjoy her walk, too.
She even remembered to take a few Shadow photos. I'm saving a couple for cover photos for the Shadow contest.
White tail deer have also been walking there, too.

It hasn't been like that here for a long time.
We really needed the moisture that this snowfall brought us. The river level is very low.
Viewing these photos depicting a snow-filled forest really made me feel chilly.
It has been bitterly cold! I'm glad I have no reason to leave the house

Ive seen morning frost and at best.... a bit of slurry... We call it "Kapok Reën" in Afrikaans, which has no literal translation that I know of, the work Kapok means nothing to me.

I do enjoy winter from the warmth of my home! Fresh snow is beautiful.
In Cape Town specifically it just gets wet and cold down to 4-5C I guess...

My son just got back. It rained in Vegas the whole time he was there.
The view is really beautiful, especially if you live there, it looks really beautiful with lots of snow and lots of trees, your daughter must be really happy to enjoy it, it's really amazing, isn't it, Mom.❤️

Warmer temperatures and rainy weather next week will melt the snow away already. We certainly are not having a proper winter.

Looks familar 😉 we went out with snowshoes through the woods down to the lake. We do it a couple of times a year when there is a good snowpack. The silence of snowcovered forests is awesome.
My daughter was sure she had found sasquatch tracks before she realized they were from snowshoes! 😂
