Phone Photography Contest #54: March [ENG/ESP]

“Flowers and colours everywhere, I am so glad that March is here.”

Anamika Mishra

March

March is the third month of the year, and particularly in the Northern Hemisphere is the beginning of Spring, the season that traditionally and ancestrally has been associated with the renewal of life, leaving behind the low temperatures and long nights of Winter, in addition, March is usually covered with the beautiful colors of flowers in gardens and streets.

Although Venezuela, the country where I was born and still live, because of its geographical location in the tropics and on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, we do not have the four seasons, just a rainy season and a dry season; this month is usually characterized by the flowering of many trees and shrubs, including the araguaney (Handroanthus chrysanthus), a species that was declared as our national tree in 1948 for its ornamental value and presence in much of the Venezuelan territory.

Throughout the month, and while walking the streets and avenues of the city, I had the opportunity to take some pictures of the flowers I found on my way, and although I must confess that I did not manage to stumble upon any flowering araguaney, I still want to share my images, in addition to this post being my participation in this week's edition of the Phone Photography Contest.

Finally, it is appropriate to clarify that I am not an expert or connoisseur of botany, so I had to consult the internet to know that the photos correspond to the bougainvillea minor, paper flower or Bougainvillea glabra, in addition to the Alpinia purpurata known as San Jose Cane or Red Ginger depending on the country.

All the Photos are of my Authorship, as well as the Edition of the same ones.

This is my entry for the Phone Photography Contest. This is an initiative of @untilwelearn.

I love those flowers and the great variety of colors they have. Recently, I saw that in some places they make tea from their petals. Beautiful photos!
