DIY Sunset Painting
I heard somewhere that artists always put down their emotions in most of their artworks but I don't know how true that is.
For today, I tried to do something bright. Something evoking and really captivating. What more to depict this than the sunset? I've loved sunsets for as long as I can remember and as such, it was really fun making this piece.
I've tried to reduce my use of black or white colours but it seems really inevitable.
There is something peculiar about circular artworks.
My first piece of circular artwork was made with a carton but today, I used glacier paper instead of carton. More often than not, artworks on glacier paper are either in a rectangular or square form but this circle seemed perfect to me.
Process
The process of making this painting was quite fun. One thing about my creativity is the fact that it's spontaneous; it just comes.

First off, I used a circular plate to cut a very neat circle on a glacier paper. I used a cutter to spare me the stress and irregularity.

Then, I decided to create a demarcation. This would have been perfect with paper tapes but I ran out of paper tapes so I had to improvise!. I used sticky notes instead. Interesting right?.
The sticky notes weren't really giving me what I wanted and at this point, all I could do was hope for the best.
I started painting from the bottom to the top. I wanted to get three shades of blues hence the addition of the black and the white colours.
With the first part done, I moved on to the "sunset". With yellow, orange and red colours, I made a somewhat beautiful sunset. Honestly, at this point, I was a bit jittery as I couldn't see the sunset yet.
After making the sunset, I sundried the piece so that I could move to the next phase which was removing the sticky notes.
What I envisioned with the sticky notes came out perfectly at the top but below? Definitely not. It was supposed to be wavy down there but it turned out to be something else. But like they say, every mistake is the beginning of something new.

With the sticky notes out, I painted a black steep and went ahead to draw my palm trees. Up until today, I had problems drawing trees but in the end, these palm trees looked really explicit to me. The last detail were the birds at the top left corner. We can't have a perfect sunset without the animals of the air. Right?
With little patches here and there, I was done . Viola, a sunset painting. I loved how it turned out in the end.
What do you think of it? Is there anything I should have added or subtracted? I'd love to hear your views.
It's not perfect, but it's something

I love the sunset, the palm trees, the bird and all year, the sticky notes didn't bring out what you wanted, it's all good though from my end. Well done 👍

This is really beautiful, I love the subset too. And sometimes I wish to be in the farms and sit on the mountains at twilight.
Am gonna make a mess of the colors if I try to make one though.
