Diy Bracelet|| Replicating A Highschool Memory
Hello everyone✨
I was going through some of my old belongings today and I came across a bracelet that was somewhat in vogue when I was in highschool. Literally everyone had this bracelet (except me ) with either their name or the name of their loved one on it. The bracelet in my possession was lent to me by a friend but it had his own name on it.
For a moment, I was reminded of my highschool days and how this little piece of bracelet added honour to a person. We called it "shambala or chambala" But for the purpose of this post, we would go with "bracelet" With that, I decided to replicate this bracelet but with different accessories.
Materials Used
For the bracelet, I used:
- Yarn
- A pair of scissors
- Measuring tape
- Beads
- A button
- A lighter
Procedure
First off, I measured 15 inches of the yarn with my measuring tape. I cut out four pieces of the yarn with this measurement. For the longer yarn that I would be using to do the tieing, I measured 40 inches.
With that, I added the button at the centre and placed the four pieces of yarn with the 15 inches measurement side by side. Then, I carried the 40 inch yarn and placed it under the four arranged pieces of yarn and then I started weaving.
Onto the tricky part. So I made a little loop. I passed the end of one side under the four pieces and then pulled everything together carefully to tighten it up. I repeated the pattern eight times for each side of the bracelet.
After repeating the pattern for about sixteen times, I was done with the body of the bracelet. I knotted the piece of yarn that I was working with, cut it off and burned the edges. This left me with the loose strands.
I joined the loose strands together to form a circle and then I repeated the same pattern I used for the body of the bracket on the loose strands. That would serve as the fastener and also the adjuster.
The last step was adding little bead-like buttons to the ends of the strands and fastening off the beads with a knot. With that I came to the end of the process.
For some reason, I feel that the colours of the yarn I used resonates well with green so I took the bracelet out for a nature photoshoot. We (the bracelet and I) had fun during the shoot.
I'm glad I was able to replicate the bracelet from highschool. In case you're wondering how the original bracelet from highschool looks like, that is the picture of it above.
I would totally love to hear your views on this bracelet. What part of the bracelet stood out the most for you?. The buttons, the body or the ending?
With love, wongi ✨

(no space) to get help on Hive. InfoIt looks nice, though I can't see the name on it, I also remember when it was in vogue then, I also didn't have it.
Well, the center of attraction isn't the old but the new one. The one I made doesn't have a name on it✨
