Etched in Wood: My American Flag Creation

Hello Hive.

I decided to share a project that's been sitting in my drafts for a while. A laser engraved American flag.

With everything happening here right now, it felt like the right time to share a project representing love for my home. It's not a perfect place but it's home.

Starting it off with a basic plaque from Dollar Tree, of course lol.

The engraving process itself is a slow and satisfying one. I've been utilizing A.I. to generate images to engrave and seeing what my prompts generate is also very satisfying.

This flag turned out kinda cool so I went with it.

Added a layer of some wood stain. Now ready for some acrylic paint!

I like the way the wood stain looked on the stripes so I decided to leave them and not paint them white. The contrast to the red stripes looks good.

The laser etched lines acted as a guide, making it easy to keep the red from bleeding into the "white" stripes of the wood.

I'm happy with how it turned out. The way the wood stripes kind of blend in and almost look wavy turned out different. The stars really pop on top of the blue as well.
