¡¡Hola a todos!! Espero que se encuentren bien. Volví bastante pronto, he tenido más tiempo libre y he sabido invertirlo en cosas bastante productivas. En esta ocasión traigo cómo realicé un colgante para collar que me encargó una compañera de mi universidad, cuya hija es autista. Me encantó mucho la idea que me dio y me ofreció comprarme el dije que le hiciera, así que puse manos a la obra.

Hello everyone!! I hope you are doing well. I’m back quite soon; I’ve had more free time and have been able to invest it in some pretty productive things. This time, I’m sharing how I made a pendant for a necklace that a classmate from my university requested. Her daughter is autistic. I loved the idea she gave me, and she offered to buy the charm I made for her, so I got to work.

Quizá no sepan, pero yo también soy autista, y he llegado a empatizar mucho con esta señora, ya que me ha contado muchas cosas sobre su pequeña hija y noté que tiene muchas similitudes conmigo a su edad e incluso actualmente, que soy un adulto 🤣. Le tengo mucho aprecio a ella y a su pequeña; a pesar de que a la última no la conozco aún personalmente, ha nacido en mí el deseo de regalarle juguetes y cosas por el estilo para que se divierta y aprenda. En fin, ese es todo el lore.

You may not know this, but I am also autistic, and I have really empathized with this lady since she has shared many things about her little daughter with me. I noticed that she has many similarities to me at her age and even now, as an adult 🤣. I have a lot of affection for her and her little girl; even though I haven't met the latter in person yet, I have developed a desire to gift her toys and things like that for her to have fun and learn. Anyway, that's all the backstory.

For this design, I put in a lot of patience and love; also, I was very excited that for the first time someone asked me to make something; it was a great opportunity for me.

• PROCEDIMIENTO • ✨🧩 • PROCEDURE •

Como es natural al trabajar con porcelana fría, comenzaremos con el amasado. Tomaremos una pequeña porción, amasaremos con las palmas de nuestras manos y nuestros dedos, y si lo desean o lo necesitan, podemos añadir un poco de aceite de bebé o para manos para dar un poco más de hidratación a la masa. Lo que esperamos conseguir con el amasado es dar calor a la masa para que se vuelva lo suficientemente manejable. Además, para iniciar cualquier creación, es recomendable partir de una pelotita; esto ayuda a evitar líneas o marcas y facilita el proceso.

As is natural when working with cold porcelain, we will start with kneading. We will take a small portion, knead it with the palms of our hands and our fingers, and if you wish or need to, we can add a little baby oil or hand cream to give the dough a bit more hydration. What we hope to achieve with kneading is to warm the dough so that it becomes manageable. Additionally, to start any creation, it is advisable to begin with a small ball; this helps avoid lines or marks and facilitates the process.

Usando nuestros dedos y la superficie en la que trabajamos, que debe estar limpia (libre de suciedad) y previamente engrasada con aceite, vamos a dar forma de pico en la parte inferior de la esfera, quedando una forma similar a la de una fresa.

Using our fingers and the surface we are working on, which should be clean (free of dirt) and previously greased with oil, we will shape a point at the bottom of the sphere, resulting in a shape similar to that of a strawberry.

Ahora, con ayuda de una esteca que les resulte más cómoda, haremos una hendidura central en la parte superior de la bolita. En ese espacio que quedó entre ambos lados del corazón, añadiremos el accesorio para que el corazón pueda convertirse en un colgante; en mi caso, utilicé uno muy básico. Introducimos la parte que tiene el agarre dentro del dije y haremos lo posible por sellar el espacio alrededor del mismo, ya sea con nuestros dedos o con una de las estecas, para que quede bien asegurado y se sostenga.

Now, with the help of a tool that is most comfortable for you, we will make a central indentation at the top of the ball. In that space left between both sides of the heart, we will add the accessory so that the heart can become a pendant; in my case, I used a very basic one. We insert the part with the handle into the charm and do our best to seal the space around it, either with our fingers or with one of the tools, so that it is well secured and holds.

Después de sellar correctamente la sección del colgante, usando nuestros dedos, suavizaremos los bordes y modelaremos mejor la forma del corazón. Yo les sugiero que se coloquen un poquito de aceite de bebé en las yemas de los dedos para facilitar este proceso; esto hará que la porcelana se mueva o se asiente con mayor facilidad, ya que la superficie estará bien hidratada. Utilicé como referencia para el tamaño del dije otro colgante de estrella que tengo a mi disposición.

After correctly sealing the pendant section, using our fingers, we will smooth the edges and better shape the heart. I suggest putting a little baby oil on your fingertips to facilitate this process; this will make the porcelain move or settle more easily since the surface will be well hydrated. I used another star pendant I have as a reference for the size of the charm.

Ahora daremos inicio al proceso de secado. Les recomiendo colocar su pieza en un plástico relativamente antiadherente en una zona fresca y ventilada.

Now we will begin the drying process. I recommend placing your piece on relatively non-stick plastic in a cool and ventilated area.

Una vez que esté seca (que ya no esté fría, húmeda ni blanda), con un color pastel preferiblemente y la punta bastante afilada, trazaremos con sutileza el boceto del diseño que vamos a añadir en la superficie; esto nos indicará cómo pintar correctamente. Hay quienes lo hacen de forma más directa, pero como son mis inicios y aún no soy diestra, quise ser bastante meticulosa para ahorrar tiempo evitando errores.

Once it is dry (no longer cold, damp, or soft), preferably using a pastel color and a fairly sharp tip, we will subtly sketch the design that we are going to add to the surface; this will indicate how to paint correctly. Some people do it more directly, but since I am just starting out and I am not yet skilled, I wanted to be quite meticulous to save time by avoiding mistakes.

Comenzaremos con un pincel delgado mediano pintando la pieza de amarillo, a la cual le agregaré unos toques de naranja como efecto de profundidad o sombreado en los bordes. Haré lo mismo con el verde, colocando toques de amarillo para dar ciertos destellos en la parte central de la pieza.

We will start with a medium thin brush painting the piece yellow, to which I will add some touches of orange as an effect of depth or shading on the edges. I will do the same with green, adding touches of yellow to give certain highlights in the center of the piece.

Para el azul cielo, hice algo similar a lo que hice con la primera pieza: coloqué el azul cielo como base y utilicé el azul rey para sombrear. Repetí el procedimiento con el rojo y el carmín para la última pieza. Cabe destacar que este diseño también lo recreé de forma no tan detallada en la parte de atrás del colgante.

For the sky blue, I did something similar to what I did with the first piece: I applied sky blue as a base and used royal blue for shading. I repeated the procedure with red and crimson for the last piece. It is worth noting that I also recreated this design in a less detailed way on the back of the pendant.

Esperamos pacientemente a que sequen, y continuaremos con la última parte del pintado, que consiste en separar las piezas con líneas blancas utilizando un pincel ultra delgado. Esto me tomó menos tiempo del que pensaba, pero sí requirió mucha paciencia y buena iluminación de mi parte.

We patiently wait for them to dry, and we will continue with the last part of painting, which consists of separating the pieces with white lines using an ultra-thin brush. This took me less time than I expected, but it did require a lot of patience and good lighting on my part.

Por último, pero no menos importante, vamos a añadir la capa de barniz, que en este caso es el esmalte acrílico transparente para uñas. Damos una capa, dejamos secar el tiempo necesario hasta que quede firme y repetimos el procedimiento otras dos veces para asegurarnos de que la capa sea lo suficientemente gruesa y resistente.

Last but not least, we will add a layer of varnish, which in this case is clear acrylic nail polish. We apply one layer, let it dry for the necessary time until it is firm, and repeat the process two more times to ensure that the layer is thick enough and durable.

Esto sería todo; así queda al final. Decidí colocarlo en una cuerdita que tengo en casa, que uso como collar, para mostrar cómo se ve ubicado en el cuello.

That would be all; this is how it looks in the end. I decided to place it on a string that I have at home, which I use as a necklace, to show how it looks when worn around the neck.
