Pac-Man beaded bracelet with loom [Eng-Esp]

Greetings, fellow craft lovers! Welcome back to my workshop, @bricolajedc. Today, we're going to make a beaded bracelet inspired by the classic Pac-Man game, which is my all-time favorite. Join me, and I'll show you my creative process.

¡Saludos amigos amantes de las artes manuales! Les doy la bienvenida una vez más a mi taller @bricolajedc. En esta oportunidad haremos un brazalete en mostacilla de el juego clásico Pac-Man que es mi favorito de todos los tiempo. Acompáñenme y les muestro mi proceso creativo.

Materials:

For this project, we will use a loom.

Calibrated seed beads #10 in black, white, red, osculum yellow, and iridescent yellow, green
10-millimeter Chinese thread
#25 nylon thread

To make the pattern, we will use graph paper and markers.

Para hacer el patrón utilizaremos papel cuadriculado y marcadores.

We'll start by making the pattern, which is one of my favorite parts because it's where we let our imaginations run wild. I drew two patterns, one with Pac-Man eating his yellow dots and the beer at the end. The other pattern (which I'll save for next time) is the little ghosts or villains in color.

Comenzaremos haciendo el patrón, es una de mis partes favoritas ya que es donde dejamos volar la imaginación. Saqué 2 patrones, uno con Pac-Man comiendo sus puntitos amarillos y al final la cervezas. Y el otro patrón (que voy a quedar debiendo para un próximo encuentro) son los fantasmitas o los villanos en colores.

Once you have the pattern ready, start assembling the loom. Use 12 nylon threads inside to divide the beads and 2 Chinese threads on the sides to form the bases at the ends.

I like to organize the beads by color on the mat next to the loom to speed up the weaving process.

Luego de tener el patrón listo. Vamos a comenzar armando el telar. Con 12 hilos de nylon por dentro que serán las divisiones de las mostacillas y 2 hilos chinos a los lados que serán las bases de los extremos.

Me gusta organizar las mostacillas por colores sobre la alfombrilla junto al telar para agilizar el tejido.

This was always my favorite game. I remember competing with my sisters for the highest score on our old video game console. Then we played it on the computer, and now I love playing it with my daughter.

Getting started is a little tricky because you have to install the first row of beads before you can begin. With a lot of patience, you organize each one in its lane.

Este siempre fue mi juego favorito. Recuerdo competir con mis hermanas por el mejor puntaje en nuestra antigua consola de video. Luego lo jugabamos en la computadora y hoy en día me encanta jugarlo con mi hija.

Para comenzar el tejido es un poco complicado ya que se debe instalar la primera fila de mostacillas para poder arrancar. Con mucha paciencia se organizan cada una en su carril.

We follow the pattern one row at a time. We must check that the nylon threads are securely fastened to prevent the bracelet from breaking later.

The correct way is to pass the needle underneath with all the beads and return over the top with the needle so that all the beads are secured to the base of the threads.

Seguimos una por una las filas siguiendo el patrón. Debemos revisar que los hilos de nylon queden bien sujetos para evitar que se rompa el brazalete luego.

La forma correcta es pasar la aguja por por debajo con todas las mostacillas y regresar por encima con la aguja para que todas las mostacillas queden fijas a la base de hilos.

This bead weaving technique is relaxing, and you can create bracelets depending on the width in just a few hours. This Pac-Man bracelet took me 1 hour and 30 minutes. But I loved the final result.

Esta técnica de mostacilla en telar resulta relajante y se pueden crear brazaletes dependiendo del ancho en pocas horas. Este brazalete de Pac-Man me tomó 1 hora 30 minutos. Pero me encantó el resultado final.

One recommendation I like to give is to write down on the edge of the pattern how many beads are required for each row to speed up the counting of the beads.

Una recomendación que me gusta dar, es anotar al borde del patrón cuantas mostacillas se requieren para cada fila para poder agilizar un poco el conteo de las mostacillas.

When we finish the pattern, we will reduce the bracelet to close it. This is done by removing one seed bead from each end. In other words, we will close with the black color. We had three rows of black seed beads after finishing the design. The next row will have 11, the next 9, the next 7, 5, and 3 to finish.

Let's loosen the ends of the Chinese thread. We make 6 flat square knots to close. We do this on each side of the bracelet.

Cuando terminamos el patrón. Vamos a hacer una reducción para el cierre del brazalete. Esto se logra quitando una mostacilla de cada extremo. Es decir, vamos a cerrar con el color negro, teniamos 3 filas de mostacilla de color negro después de terminar el dibujo. La siguiente fila tendrá 11, la siguiente 9, la siguiente 7, 5 y 3 para finalizar.

Vamos a soltar las puntas del hilo chino. Hacemos 6 nudos planos cuadrados para cerrar. Lo hacemos de cada lado del brazalete.

Then we will cut all the nylon threads and burn them with a lighter so that they do not come loose.

Luego vamos a cortar todos los hilos de nylon y a quemar con un encendedor para que no se suelten.

And that's how we finish our Pac-Man bracelet. We can add some beads to the ends and finish with a slipknot.

Y así terminamos nuestro brazalete de Pac-Man. Podemos colocar algunas mostacillas en las puntas y para cerrar con un nudo corredizo.
