I might be going to the Krakow "HiveFest" - are you going too?

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

As most of you know, this year´s official HiveFest is taking place in Mexico (it actually starts in just a few days) and I´m really happy for every Hiver who will be there as it surely will be an amazing and unforgettable event. So those who can visit it, go for it guys! It will be epic! However, there will also be many who, for some reason, cannot make it to the official HiveFest this year (including me) but apparently, there will be another cool event that we can attend.

The idea came from @gtg who joined forces with @hallmann and his community from @krolestwo and what they are planning to host is basically a little spontaneous Hive gathering in the beautiful Polish city of Krakow where @krolestwo is based and even run their own Hive club. The event will take place on Saturday, October 7 but there might be some program for the days before and after that as well. You can check out all the info at @hivebeecon.

Originally, I thought I wouldn´t be able to attend this event as me and my wife are expecting a baby that is actually due quite shortly after the event and we have thus been incredibly busy lately but we just talked about it again and my amazing wife said that it´s a great opportunity and that at least I should go there while she will manage somehow at home. I haven´t decided yet but I´m really thinking about it now and I wonder who else from my Hive friends will be there. So please guys let me know in the comments below!

Some of you surely still remember the official HiveFest that took place in Krakow back in November 2018 and it´s still regarded one of the greatest HiveFests ever hosted. Actually, I was there too, even though just for one night, but it was so much fun and it was also when I fell in love with the city of Krakow. So much that in 2020, we even made Krakow our temporary home. So yeah, the chance to visit this magnificent city again is another reason why I would love to go... Really curious to know who I would have the pleasure to meet over there though. Do let me know please ;)

Jak už jsem psal před pár dny na českém Discordu - krakowská komunita se rozhodla uspořádat takový menší alternativní HiveFest pro ty, kteří se z nějakého důvodu nemohou zúčastnit toho oficiálního, který se letos koná v Mexiku. Původně jsem si myslel, že nezvládnu ani ten krakowský, protože krátce po tom termínu by se nám měla narodit dcera, ale po další domácí poradě jsme se dohodli, že alespoň já bych se tam otočit mohl. Tak to teď zvažuji a zajímá mě, kdo z mých Hive přátel tam bude. Co jsem tak zběžně zaregistroval, tak kromě (tradičně početně silných) domácích se tam chystají i Hivers z mnoha dalších zemí (včetně třeba Anglie, Švýcarska, Holandska nebo Španělska). Těžko říct, jaká bude finální účast, ale tipuju, že minimálně několik desítek lidí.

Z Česka je Krakow velmi dobře dostupný, tak jsem si řekl, že se zeptám i v #cesky. Měl by někdo zájem se přidat? Primárně se jedná o sobotu 7.října, ale kdyby se někdo chtěl zdržet před nebo po tomto datu, tak je to samozřejmě taky možné. Pokud nakonec pojedu, tak nejspíš přímým vlakem z Prahy až do Krakowa a nebo vlakem do Ostravy a tam přestoupím na bus, kterým je to pak už jen asi dvě hodinky. Na konkrétní spoje jsem se ještě nedíval.

Jak někteří víte, v Krakowě jsem v minulosti nějakou dobu žil, takže bych mohl být i tak trochu váš průvodce ;)

I disscussed under someone's post that HIVE Fest could be organized both in Northern or Southern hemisphere in a year so that much more people can attend without waiting for the next year.

If I were you, I wouldn't leave my wife as birth time can't be expected correctly. She might need you ;)

I can see your point but I think we have no idea how difficult it actually is to prepare such a huge event. If you asked the main organizers, I´m sure they would tell you than once in a year is more than enough :)

Well, the due date is some 4 weeks after the Krakow meetup, it´s not that close but you are right, it can come anytime... That´s why it´s so hard to decide :/

Krakow looks like a beautiful city!! I have never been. I was in Poland only once for Euro 2012, when I followed the Irish soccer team to Poznan, seriously good memories!!

That´s cool, a lot of my friends followed our national team to Wroclaw, the stadium there was brand new back then in 2012, really nice one :) I know the one in Poznan is also beautiful. I´m sure you had a lot of fun on that trip :)

That´s an interesting question actually :D I mean the Poles in general have a very positive approach towards alcohol (just like us Czechs) but it feels like the local Hivers are not big fans of that trend. I may be wrong though. Curious to find out :D I think at least some beer might be helpful though, you know, some icebreaker :D

I dunno, feels a bit like a trap to me. When my wife says "sure you go ahead honey", it's not usually what she actually wants. I'd just be really really sure if I were you! That's awesome though. I like that people are still going to get together even if they can't make it to the big one! Congrats on the coming baby as well!

Hahaha I know exactly what you mean but I think this is not the case ;) I mean if my wife wasn´t pregnant, we would go there together as she loves Krakow. In this situation, however, it´s better for her to stay home. How about you? Are you going to the big one in Mexico? Rosarito is very close to the US border so I guess many US Hivers are going...

Yeah, close to the border, but still far enough away that I won't be able to make it. It's a four hour plane ride or so to get there. My schedule just doesn't allow for it at the beginning of the school year. Plus my budget is pretty tight right now too.

That's pretty much across the whole continent here too! Plus Mexico is kind of scary right now. I think we have do not travel warnings there. I'd rather go to Krakow honestly.

Really? When we lived in Mexico (Riviera Maya), there were tons of American expats everywhere. And yes, we were there during some brutal cartel wars too. But the violence was happening almost exclusively between the gangs. Gringos were safe. But that might have changed. It´s already been a few years since we left Mexico...

It could be the case. I don't really know. I was supposed to go to Cabo this past Spring, but things didn't work out, so we just stayed in the US. I'd like to visit there one day, but I'd love to see Europe even more, so Krakow still wins out for me!

I hope you will make it here. Whenever I show some of my American friends around my country, I really enjoy watching them being so fascinated how old the architecture is here. We have the world´s highest number of medieval castles per square mile :D

I myself am very much interested in going to this event but due to financial problems I am not able to go now but if some conditions are right then I will definitely go and I am very much interested to meet people who have i have been working with him for a long time.
