Seven days after Super Typhoon Uwan - Our Story of Loss, Faith, Hope and Survival. Standing Firmed and Rising Stronger!

It's already Seven days after Super Typhoon Uwan's surge over the Northern Philippines. Our community in Benguet was among those hardest hit and in the chaos of that stormy Sunday night, we faced one of the greatest heartbreaks a family could ever have. We lost not only our crops, our roads, and our light but also our beloved grandmother, who was taken from us by a sudden landslide at our aunt's place. As we continue to cope with the damage left by the Super Typhoon Uwan, we hold on to hope, gratitude and faith. Despite the pain and the darkness that surrounded us today, God’s protection remained, and it is through His strength that we now begin to hope, rise, heal, and move forward.

Greetings to everyone here on hive! I hope we are all doing great and very well today as we continue to live our lives. It's been a while since I posted here and it's good to be back to share an update of our life, may this be not so important to anyone but I just want to share to give hope and inspire anyone who needs it even only one person who reads this then it's worth sharing.

Today marks the 7th day since Super Typhoon Uwan struck the Northern Philippines, and our province and community were among those greatly affected. One of the deepest pains we experienced was losing our grandmother, who was buried in a landslide at my aunt's place on that stormy Sunday night when the typhoon was at its strongest. We just laid her to rest yesterday afternoon, which is why I’m only able to post again now after 7 days. She is the only casualty listed here in our municipality particularly here in our baranggay Ballay. It's really hard to imagine the pain she must have felt and endure before her last breath beneath the soil that buried her alive. It's really heartbreaking, until now my tears keep on falling as I remember her last word on our last conversation last Sunday morning. It keeps on echoing on my ears, her laugh her soft spoken words and her way of giving us advice, remains on my mind and hearts.

Our grandmother's wake

It has been 7 days also that we're in darkness all night because the super typhoon destroyed power lines and electric posts as if they were nothing. Super Typhoon Uwan makes it as Pasta and almost every barangay and municipality in Benguet or the whole province was left in darkness that same night.up until now. We are hoping that this will not take any longer because it is really difficult to work in the house without electricity. As of now we are clinging to our solar light but still not enough to light the entire house.

Aside from the power lines, many roads were hit by landslides, both national and farm to market roads are not passable, some were completely washed out, but thanks to our government officials for being ready in clearing our national and provincial road that's why as of now they are passable only our farm to market roads and those totally washed out are in need of a plan before working but they are on the verge, I heard this Monday they will clear our farm to market road with the help of individual in our community which we call bayanihan. Our gardens and crops were not spared by the Super Typhoon, many were totally damaged, while others were swept away by the landslide and strong wind.

But still we are thankful that we are all safe and strong so we can clear and plant again on our farm. We are thankful that God has given and blessed us with enough strength and life so we will use these gifts to rise and work again. Bellow are the link from Facebook that shows how strong and destructive Super Typhoon Uwan on our very own Baranggay.

Despite everything happening, we remain thankful because most of our family members are safe, including our relatives in the neighboring province that was also hit by the super Typhoon Uwan. Even if we lost crops, property and life, we are still grateful to God for keeping us safe, of course except for our dear grandmother who was buried in the landslide at our aunt’s home. We already surrendered everything to God, because we never know how or when He may take back our life. So Instead of mourning endlessly, we choose to trust His plan, and we know our grandmother is now at peace with Him. Seven days is enough, though there are times that we remember her presence but still trusting the process and moving on is the best way to do as of now so that we can also live our life as living ones.

This Super Typhoon Uwan is a reminder that we always need to prepare spiritually and physically. Natural calamities are beyond our control, only God has authority over them. So here we are, keeping a positive heart and mind, believing that everything will be alright just trust His process this may take long but small progress daily is needed. We will rise again and continue living. The storm may have knocked us down, but we are strong and determined so will stand up stronger than before.

Thank you so much @wordsbylyne for your kind and comforting words. I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Yes, despite what we encounter here, helping each other is the most important thing to do because we cannot rise on our own because all of us were affected. I know and I can see that we are now moving forward and slowly getting back to our normal life except for the electricity, up until now still we don't have power supply because all the electricity post pole and cable were completely damage by the typhoon. We are just hoping that it will come back sooner. Thanks for everything my friend.

Condolences to you and the entire family. I actually noticed your absence here in hive for how many days, it's good your back.but I feel bad for your loss. Didn't know you went through so much such as losing a loved one. I hope your community will live to the resilience that I believe almost all Filipinos have. I know you can get back soon. Keep safe and bless the soul of your Lola.

Uwan devastated a lot. Even my family in Pangasinan was greatly affected. 😌
But despite what happened, we need to be strong. There's always a rainbow after the storm. God will make a way where there seems to be no way. 🙏

You're right it was really devastating but we need to moved on and plant again. We don't have any control to this kind of calamities so instead of mourning and blaming anyone just rise and move on. As farmers, we plant and rise again!
