Flexing the Beauty of Our Everyday Life: Family, Work, and Simple Joys

Today, I just want to flex something simple—but very meaningful to me. This blog is not about luxury, not about big achievements yet, but about our day-to-day family life, the small routines we do together, and how these little moments slowly build the life we are proud of.

As you can see, our home is simple. We have a mini sari-sari store at the front, and just beside it is the extension of our mini house. Inside this small space, you will also find my workstation, where I work as a work-from-home teacher. Everything is close to each other—our business, our home, and my work—and honestly, I love how connected everything feels. It reminds me every day that work and family can exist together in one space when there is love, patience, and teamwork.

My daily routine starts early. I prepare myself not only as a teacher but also as a wife and a mother. I check our store, fix a few things, prepare meals, and organize my teaching materials before my classes start. Every day may look the same, but for me, every day is still special—because I get to do all these things with my family around me.

Today is extra special because it’s the only day my husband is free to do his DIY projects. From Monday to Friday, he works from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, so weekends are the only time he can focus on improving our home. Today, he spent his time making a cabinet to fix our things. It may look simple to others, but for us, it’s a big help. Every cabinet, table, and small furniture he builds is made with effort, patience, and love.

While my husband was busy, our bulinggit (our son) stayed by his daddy’s side the whole time. It was such a heartwarming scene. Whenever my husband couldn’t reach something, he would gently say, “Anak, kindly please get that.” And our son would happily help, proud to be useful. Seeing them together reminded me that children learn responsibility not from lectures, but from watching and helping their parents.

There was a moment when things felt quiet and a little boring—until my husband suddenly noticed a magtataho passing by. Without hesitation, we bought taho, which is my son’s favorite. Even though he had a little cough, nothing could stop him from enjoying his taho. Hehe. Sometimes, happiness really comes in a small cup with arnibal and sago. No expensive dessert can beat the joy of a simple childhood favorite.

Today, I also want to flex my workstation. This space is very special to me because it represents my dreams. My table, shelves, and teaching aids are all DIY projects by my husband. We are very fond of making things instead of buying them right away. Because when something is handmade, it carries memories, effort, and teamwork. That’s why we treasure these things so much.

My work-from-home job is very important to me. I was only hired last November, and since then, I’ve been very eager to slowly buy and prepare the things I need—especially teaching materials that help me become better at my job. The laptop I’m using now is a gift from my sister, and I will always be grateful for that. My family has been very supportive, and even though I am already married, they are always there, ready to give a helping hand.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, my husband and I decided to live separately from my parents six months ago. It wasn’t easy, but we wanted to experience life as a married couple—to learn responsibility, independence, and teamwork. Married life is not perfect, but it teaches you important lessons that you can only learn when you stand on your own.

Now, we are more confident. We are learning that even in simple ways, we can grow, improve, and do more—especially when we do things together as a family. We may not have much, but we have cooperation, love, and shared dreams.

I love writing blogs every day because I want to be recognized, not for fame, but for effort. I want to be proud of what we create at the end of each day. Writing helps me reflect, appreciate small moments, and document our journey as a mother, a wife, and a working woman.

As I continue my journey here on Hive and improve my content, I would also like to respectfully ask for a small Hive Power delegation to help me stay active and support others in the community. 💛 This would mean a lot to me as I continue sharing real-life stories, family moments, and daily activities from a mother’s perspective.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. I am hoping and praying for success—not just here, but in life. I will continue to share our day-to-day activities, lessons, and simple joys.
