An Introductory Post to Hive: Jenriel’s Story of Family, Faith, and Fight

Hi I’m Jenriel C. Delos Santos, also known as "Lalay,” 19 years old and live in Gk Mahay Butuan City Philippines. I was born on May 7, 2006, in Buhangin Butuan City. I am the fourth of my five siblings and the only girl. I completed my elementary education at Butuan Central Elementary School as well as my high school education at Agusan National High School. I'm an academic achiever and an achievement of honor student and an officer of the class and also a leader, and my career path in life is that I want to be a professional flight attendant someday. I’m in 2nd yr college now but I stop because of financial problem. My life so very problematic like mix of emotion especially my family’s problem like their so many trials in our life, the point that I want to give up, pressure of life is so real to the point that I am already drinking, drunk girl, I do that to forget all of my problems. Because I’m afraid to disappoint my family I promised them to help when I finish my studies but now, I stopped because of financial and my family can't afford to send me to school. but I realized I have God to provide for all my problems and not to give up. and I’m so proud to my mother I know that she so tired of life but she so strong he never fails us, this is the one reason why I stop my college because I understand our situation now, that’s why I’m so proud of her and I hope someday I will help my mother to all of her problems in life. But nothing is impossible with God, I stopped because I understand the situation of my family but it’s not too late especially, I am a young There are many more ways to go back to school. For now, I will save up and try to find a job. To pursuing my school and to help my family also.

I’m very shy girl, softhearted, humble, tall, and also kind and especially a family oriented. loves sunsets, moons, and especially music, and my favorite colors are yellow and black, but I’m obsessed with yellow. I have no talent or skills in life. I’m a simple girl not smart, but theirs has knowledge. Because of my shyness I pursuing the offer to attend a pageant yes pageant, it’s not about showing off. But to be a confident person and an experience also, my emotion that time is so very terrified, nervous like mix of emotion I asked myself, can I do it? Maybe I'll just be embarrassed Something like that, like I down myself that time. but I managed, I managed to face the fight not a winner but thankful to my supporters and still thankful to have the opportunities that I express my shyness in front of the crowd. This girl is so lucky to have a family, especially parents, because she doesn’t have strict parents; she has chill and kind parents. She gives her parents freedom with limits. That's why she's so lucky to have them in my life because her parents trust her, and I don’t want that trust to be broken because of me. That's why I'll try my best to be a good daughter for them. I'll do everything for them for my family and parents.

My parents are so very hardworking because of me and my sibling. Also, I have three brothers who stopped school because of financial problems; that’s why he chose to work. Also, my youngest brother is continuing school now as a high school at Agusan National High School. My two brothers have a family now, and one of them has a boyfriend because he is bisexual. Also, I had a boyfriend, we were together for almost 11 months and counting. But I’m so thankful from my life now I have a boyfriend who help me thru ups and down he helps me and my family also. That’s why I’m so lucky to have him because he is a kind and gentlemen, because nowadays you only see a sensible man once in a while. Also, Jenriel has not had a lot of experience in life because she stays at home. Before, this girl was used to always wandering. She had a lot of friends, but now I have two best friends. Those two friends are my trusty in life. Because of them, I experience going with the flow. I can't just call them friends, but they are also my sisters. Our friendship has been going on for almost 7 years and counting. That's why the two friends stayed with me no matter what happened. Sometimes we argue, but we're not children anymore. That's why we were helping each other to grow. That's the best experience that I've wanted. I am Jenriel a strong, independent woman. I faced many struggles, but I never gave up. I keep fighting, I keep believing, and I keep moving forward.
