My first cooking experience as a bachelor.

It's been two days since I let my comfort zone and I'm in another city(lagos) far from my parents, I got a job there that's why. Actually I have a lot of benefits, like privacy and so many other things. But this also brings about food issue and yesterday I made my first meal.

First, I had to buy my ingredients, rice, oil, pepper, spice ,onions and tomatoe paste. K wanted to make jellof rice. Wow I can't forget that day.

I actually didn't know where to start and I don't want to take my phone to the kitchen.

So I started watching some cooking videos, but it was late, so I watched and pause, try it out and watch again and pause, I continued the process till the network became bad. Then I had to complete the rest. From the first step my onions started turning black, some were burnt 😢, I didn't give up, continued with it for awhile till, I forgot what next. I had to turn off the gas and watch more videos. Then I continued with adding the rice, salt and I had to wait. Forgot to pre cook the rice( parboil). I added water and waited. I was praying for the rice to be edible, when it was done I mixed it with eggs.
It was funny but I kind of enjoyed the meal cause it was my hard work 😅 paying out.

But this is my decree, In a months time I will improve my cooking to a higher level. Thank you.

I read your post and I imagine my oldest son when he decides to leave home, he is still 17, but sometimes in an act of rebellion he says that next year he will look to move out on his own.
With practice you will be able to make other dishes to increase your own gastronomic offer, because you will not last long eating only rice.

I found your experience very sweet. When we are first-timers doing something, we will make mistakes and it won't turn out right the first time, but with time, you will improve and you will always enjoy your food because you put your effort into it 😊 I recommend watching cooking videos in your free time (start with easy dishes) and writing down the recipes step by step in a notebook, so it will be easier for you and you won't have to pick up the phone. Good luck with your cooking experience! I'm sure you will make wonderful and delicious things in the future 🙏
