That beautiful, indescribable feeling when things just work. Like finding the missing piece of a puzzle. Like getting a good grade on a test you thought you were about to fail. That’s how I’m finishing the day.

I have to say, unlike yesterday, today was actually good. I woke up early enough to see the sunrise, and had my cup of joe ready within ten minutes of leaving Morpheus’ realm. I decided to relax for a good hour before revisiting any coding. It can’t be that I’m on this computer twelve hours a day just staring at code snippets. I have to enjoy life too, I said to myself, as guilt began piling up slowly.

After feeding our fur babies and pouring myself the third cup of joe, I sat down to read documentation and argue with ChatGPT about its “genius” ideas that don’t work. I have to admit, in theory, vibe coding sounds like magic. Like pressing a button and seeing a finished product come out on the other side. But in practice, it’s more like arguing with a genius who has an extreme case of ADD. He wants to help, and can, but half the time sends you down rabbit holes with his “advice.”

I’m happy to report Tweets – as I still call them – are officially working on HiveSnaps. They finally render, and yes, it stopped crashing. I felt so good after that victory that I decided to add more requested features, since it was only 2pm and my confidence had been reinforced, by luck, maybe.

At any rate, it’s past 9pm now, and today I managed to put the following things on HiveSnaps:

• Tweets render

• Post previews for people who use Snaps to share their long-form links

• Push notifications work (a simplified implementation, but they do)

• New robust Snap Composition Screen – multiple images can be uploaded at once. (Of this, I’m quite proud)

As if these little victories were not enough, I opened up Hive Pulse, this little Python thing I’ve been working on for a month, and decided to ask Grok (they praise him a lot lately, so why not) why my Patacoin distribution wasn’t working – these gamification tokens for future prizes. And what do you know? Grok actually saw my error: the freaking “@” not being added to usernames. Ha!

So anyways, it’s past nine over here in my little corner of the world, and I’m feeling quite at peace. I would crack open a beer or even a bottle of wine, but I’m truly trying to live a healthier life. Both for my aging body and my weak wallet. Both require the utmost care, as the people of letters like to say.

Going to leave a chicken on the slow cooker all night for my pups, and find my sheets. It’s a cold night, and boy, I could use a good rest.

Ese sentimiento hermoso e indescriptible cuando las cosas simplemente funcionan. Como encontrar la pieza faltante de un rompecabezas. Como sacar una buena nota en un examen que pensabas que ibas a reprobar. Así es como termino el día.

Debo decir que, a diferencia de ayer, hoy fue un buen día. Me desperté lo suficientemente temprano para ver el amanecer, y tenía mi café listo en menos de diez minutos de haber dejado el reino de Morfeo. Decidí relajarme una hora antes de volver al código. No puede ser que pase doce horas al día frente a esta computadora viendo fragmentos de código. También tengo que disfrutar la vida, me dije, mientras la culpa se iba acumulando poco a poco.

Después de alimentar a nuestros peluditos y servirme la tercera taza de café, me senté a leer documentación y a discutir con ChatGPT sobre sus “ideas geniales” que no funcionan. Debo admitir que, en teoría, el vibe coding suena mágico. Como presionar un botón y ver salir un producto terminado. Pero en la práctica es como discutir con un genio con un caso extremo de TDAH. Quiere ayudar, y puede, pero la mitad del tiempo te manda por madrigueras con sus “consejos.”

Me alegra contarles que los Tweets – así los sigo llamando – ya funcionan en HiveSnaps. Finalmente se renderizan, y sí, dejó de caerse. Me sentí tan bien después de esa victoria que decidí agregar más funciones que me habían pedido, ya que eran solo las dos de la tarde y mi confianza había sido reforzada, quizás por suerte.

En fin, ya son pasadas las nueve de la noche, y hoy logré poner lo siguiente en HiveSnaps:

• Renderización de Tweets

• Previsualización de posts para quienes comparten sus links de long-form en Snaps

• Notificaciones push (una implementación simplificada, pero funcionan)

• Nueva pantalla robusta de creación de Snaps – se pueden subir múltiples imágenes a la vez (de esto estoy bastante orgulloso)

Como si estas pequeñas victorias no fueran suficientes, abrí Hive Pulse, este pequeño proyecto en Python en el que llevo un mes, y decidí preguntarle a Grok (lo alaban mucho últimamente, así que por qué no) por qué no funcionaba mi distribución de Patacoin – estos tokens de gamificación para futuros premios. Y ¿qué creen? Grok vio mi error: ¡el maldito “@” que no estaba agregando a los nombres de usuario! ¡Ja!

En fin, ya pasan de las nueve aquí en mi pequeño rincón del mundo y me siento bastante en paz. Me abriría una cerveza o incluso una botella de vino, pero realmente estoy intentando llevar una vida más sana. Por mi cuerpo que envejece y por mi cartera débil. Ambos requieren el máximo cuidado, como dicen los hombres de letras.

Voy a dejar un pollo en la olla de cocción lenta toda la noche para mis perritos y a buscar mis sábanas. Es una noche fría, y vaya que necesito un buen descanso.
