Road Walk... Summer 2024... Somewhere in Italy...
It's time to go back in history and do the road trip again... At least through photos, as this year, we will skip the road and fly away instead! Just a short introduction... The last few years, my family would do yearly trips to our hometown, travelling by car... The whole trip is around 2500km long, which means that we have to split it for at least 3 days... During those 3 days on the road, we are visiting at least 2 cities (where we sleep), and multiple gas stations/resting areas on the road... When I was younger, I could drive multiple hours without stopping (my record was over 8-9 hours), but lately, I try to take breaks at least every 2 hours...
This is a story about one of those stops at the gas station... I have no idea where it was exactly, but I know it was in Italy (the text is in Italian 🙄... well done Sherlock 😂)... Oh, I know the exact time, it was on August 20th, 2024 (thanks ImageData! 😃)! Perfect for a #TBF post!
This petrol station is one of those that are available on both sides of the highway, and sometimes, they are connected with a walking bridge... I suppose it's interesting and entertaining for kids (and not just them 😃) to watch vehicles passing under their feet...

Also, this place had a huge restaurant where you could choose between different dishes! Even at a gas station, Italian food tastes awesome! I have to say that I can't remember the time when it went wrong ordering food in Italy... We had bad experiences a couple of times in France, but in Italy, never!

If you got your belly filled with food, no worries, you don't have to take the stairs to get back to your car to continue your travel to Milano... You can take an elevator! 😃 We were joking that if you enter that elevator, it will take you right to the center of Milano... 😃

If you are curious about prices in the restaurant, you can check out the menu!
Going back downstairs leads to the supermarket where you can buy whatever you need to continue your journey, food, drinks, and a lot of local souvenirs!

Good buy, La Fucina! See you maybe somewhere in the future...
The last two photos were taken in the hotel room, in France... For those who are a bit "older", this will be an easy task to recognize the (series of) movies... 😂 I remember when I was a kid, these were the favorite movies of my parent, and especially my grandparents who lived a couple of years in Paris!
When you are in France, you have to "consume" French things... Even movies...
So, did you guess? Which movie was on TV?
Thank you for your valuable time.

Scaligera that means you were somewhere near Verona... BTW that's not a real restaurant 😅 that places in the gas station on highways are no restaurants but something like "old wild west" or "roadhouse" so average in general, I wouldn't go there tbh
Well, that's the best you can get on the highway (I mean restaurants/fast food)... We try to avoid them, but when you are hungry, you have to eat something... In either way, those in Italy are much better than somewhere else...
You are probably right... Can't remember where we spent the first night, but it could be around Treviso and we were on our way toward Brescia...
In your case I think it was not really possible, when I go for a long trip on the highway, we make some bread+salame or mortadella on our own and stop somewhere to eat, then go forward again
Treviso is the only city in the region I have never visited 😅
Hahahaha.. That's funny as we did visit it at least 2-3 times... It had probably the cheapest accommodation, as everything around was expensive (probably because of Venice)
Verona is super expensive too because you have Garda, maybe Vicenza it's cheap
Yup, Vicenza is affordable and a nice, quiet city... We stayed there 2-3 times...
What a wonderful journey filled with beautiful memories.
2,500 kilometers on the road is not easy, but you clearly know how to make the journey enjoyable in every detail.
It is tiring, but at least, we stop a few times and see something new... 😃
Thanks for your curation! 🙏
Hello!
Well deserved!
Happy Saturday!
2500 km is a long trip, but that's the attitude, make it part of the vacation. No doubt those Italian dishes look delicious 😋...even if they are road food 🤭. I love the lucky nomos, they are so cute 😍.
I don't remember the name of the movie, but I've seen many by Louis de Funès. Here they used to play them a lot on TV, they are classics of French comedy movies. Greetings and good weekend to all of you.
That's the only view that makes sense... Every time we try to take breaks in places where we weren't before... Always something new to see... :)
They are classics, but recently, I didn't see them on Spanish TV... Interestingly, Louis de Funès's parents were from Seville, Spain, which I had no idea before...
Happy weekend to you too!!! 🍷
It looks like a nice break on your trip. It's interesting to see the stuff you see on the way to your destination.
When I'm driving, I can't see too much around, but during the breaks I can... Recently, my wife has taken the wheel occasionally, so I can enjoy the views...
I loved watching the movies from the series "Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez" 😂
I still remember the scene of the nun driving in Citroen 2CV(Spaček) down the hills with olive trees...
Did you have a chance to stop by and take a break at the Marche pumps through Slovenia?
The most beautiful thing I've seen at the pumps...
That's the one! 😂 Combined the national TV and the Hungarian TV, I think that it was at least 5-10 times on a TV at our home (and in my grandparents' home) 🤣
We do stop regularly in Slovenia to fill up the gas tank, as prices in Italy are crazy... I still remember one of the pumps where we couldn't open the door due to strong winds... but the views were stunning... Not sure it was Marche, tbh..
Next time you drive through Slovenia, look for Marche.
You will recognize them by the figures of cows, similar to the ones in front of Ale Hop :-)
Having a one place to stop and getting all the essentials covered before resuming the trip ahead is my ideal way for going on long journeys. If there's time, explore the place more, learn something new. I've hear that Italian cuisine is always exquisite, I'm afraid I don't know that movie, it seems to be created before I was born!
Hehehehe... Yeah, that movie is probably too old for you to know... It's one of the classics of French comedy... You can check it out...

😂
Haha, I do enjoy light comedy movies, especially when on the road! Thanks for sharing, will check it out :)
2500km is such a long trip, and perhaps maybe I'm saying this because a lot of highways in Nigeria when you're travelling long distance can be filled with bandit and armed thieves, but is it completely safe to do by road, or wouldn't it make say to make it by air?
The television looks quite old lol.
Luckily, something like that doesn't happen too often on European highways... There are cases, but very rarely... Just in case, we usually make breaks at petrol stations as they have 24-hour vigilance by cameras...
It is possible to catch a plane (which we will do this year), but a road trip has its own "charm"... Seeing new places, adventure, etc 😃
Yeah, that movie is a "bit" old... 😂 But some of the commentators guessed it right, which means I'm not the only old guy here... hahahahah
Nice share! I just came back from France and Italy! :P
Thanks! So, you were close to us while we had the Graz meetup?
Did you have a business trip, or a pleasure?
It was for leisure hehe!
I've never been to france, but the sight is beautiful, however i was salivating and anticipating to see what you ordered 😋
This was in Italy, and only the last 2 photos were from the hotel room...
Ohh sorry about that i meant to write italy i got confuse over reading that last part.
Loved the elevator to Milan, hope to get on it soon hahaha. My good friend, it was nice for me to read you, besides Italy is ringing in my mind these days, my wife is very focused on a mission that could take us to that country, in fact she is here near me studying the language, I wish so much for that to come true because wow Venezuela sometimes seems to be winning the battle for us 🙃
Your way of narrating the adventure is exciting and very original and I find the language beautiful, not like French, I don't think I could even order a loaf of bread in France 🤣 it seems so complicated to me... Thank you for sharing these memories on #FBF Fridays, your presence is a luxury for this small but beautiful community that makes us relive the past. I hug you brother, you are a great man, and I will not get tired of thanking you both for so much kindness to us ❤️
Imagine having a "teleport" ability? How awesome would it be to travel to the opposite side of the world in the blink of an eye? 😃
While we are waiting on that, we can travel by checking others' posts, and regarding hanging out with others, we have HIVE, and maybe some other ways to communicate too... 😃
If I had to move from some other country, I would probably pick Italy! We didn't have longer vacations there, but on our trips through it, we can say only the best about it... Nice people, great food, and there are parts of Italy that are very affordable for living...
Very nice mixed things and places. Summer time ad being at Italy
Exploration mode: ON! 😃
