A Love-feast to remember

Hello amazing people! It is a new and beautiful day, but most importantly, it's a Throwback Thursday. I have not been here for quite a while, and many factors contributed to that. One of them is the fact that I kind of ran out of throwbacks to share. Given that I am not in the habit of taking pictures as often as necessary, it was very easy for me to run out of what to write about. Even though that was my major challenge, I must also admit that laziness set in at some point. Be it what it may, I am here today; and I will be sharing an amazing event that occurred earlier this year with you guys today.

It began on the 14th of September 2025 and ended on the 21st; our annual Youth Week celebration. I am a member of St Anthony Catholic Parish Igwuruta, Port Harcourt, Nigeria; and we have a tradition of an annual Youth Week event. What I will be sharing with you today is our 2025 annual Youth Week event.

Throughout the week, there were several activities; the only problem is that I failed to take pictures throughout the weekly activities. The pictures I have were all taken on the grand finale, the final day of our celebration. I guess I will be sharing what happened on the grand finale of our celebration then.

Some of the parish youth members alongside brother Kingsley who was a member of the parish youth before going into the seminary.

It was a Sunday; and as part of the activities of the day, it was decided that the youths would take charge of the entire liturgical celebration. As a matter of fact, the day was hyper-stressful. I was in the church premises as at 6:45 a.m., and I remained there till 6 p.m. There are 3 Masses in the parish; 6, 8 and 10 a.m. Mass, and I had to be part of every one of them, alongside my fellow youths. Though it was stressful, it was fun too. So fun that we never realised how stressful it was.

The Mass was just the beginning of our programme for the day, but it was the most interesting part for me. I was in the choir; I was the keyboardist for the day, and it was really interesting. There will be no need to tell you much about how interesting the singing was; the video below should be able to explain better.

The videos above show some of our singing during the 10 a.m. Mass. We were unable to capture the two other Masses, but I guess the 10 a.m. Mass was the best. Apart from the choir, the youths were also the ministers of hospitality, the altar servers and the lectors for the day. Since the youths were already part of these organisations, it was more like the members of the organisations who were youths took charge for the day.

I had the opportunity to take picture with some of my old friends, most of us have know each other for as long as we can remember.

After the Mass, the celebration proper began; we used our uncompleted parish hall as a venue. Given that the youth organisation of the parish has shared themselves into A, B and C groups, each of the groups was asked to present one thing or another for the celebration. Group A, being my group, was asked to present a welcome song, group B was asked to present a cultural dance while group C was asked to present a comedy drama. Unfortunately, I was unable to make a video of every other group's performance, but I have a very short video of my group's welcome song.

A very short video of the welcome my group presented.

The truth is that there would have been a lot more to tell about this special day, but I was simply unable to take as many pictures and videos as I should, and that limited my story. All in all, though, it's a day to remember. There is indeed joy in celebrating as youths in the house of the Lord.

I am @ernesto6402, and I appreciate you for reading through to the end. One Love ✌️.

Thank you for taking this community seriously and waiting for the right moment to share an event that has been truly important to you. It is not necessary to be here every Thursday; quality is better than quantity. This post seems to have been written by me. Music and church are a perfect combination, and I have experienced my happiest moments singing in a temple. I will always admire the way you dress to go to church, something that does not happen here... A hug from afar my brother, thank you for being here 🙏

Thank you so much @jesuslnrs, I kind of anticipated your comment 😊. Singing in the church is one of the thing I am most passionate about. The dressing part is just our culture, it is tradition that we dress well to church in this part of the world. Thank you so much for always being supportive my friend 🙏
