Rise and Shine FPV Drone Flight Testing Some New Settings

Got up early this morning to test out some new settings that I put on my 3.5 inch drone. It is an absolutely beautiful morning and was the perfect time for a test run. I put the settings on last night and flew a couple of packs, but had to fine tune the motor limits to my liking. Well, I am happy to say that I am zeroed on and this drone is flying with the precision that I have been looking for the whole time!

I used the AOS 3.5 Tune profile by Chris Rosser in Betaflight and AOS 5 Tune profile on my 5 inch. Let me just tell you, these new settings have changed the game for me! The best part about it is that my motors stay super cool, so less likely to burn them out with my somewhat aggressive flying!

I highly suggest using these PID and filter settings on your quad, or find the AOS profile that will fit yours.

Until next time...

Be cool, be real, and always abide with the skies!

I don't understand at all. I'm happy if I can keep the drone in a straight line :-D

I was like that at first, lol. You just need more stick time. Simulators are amazing too.

I'm a complete beginner. Time will tell if I'll progress or just stick to photography :-)

I hear you. I almost gave up a few times in the beginning. It’s all just in what you are trying to do. For stuff like drone photography, those are really simple to fly and handle, just takes some practice. But for what I do, it’s all manual controls and I am wearing goggles, so I get that first person experience that lets me fly the way I do. Simulators like Liftoff are a great way to learn the FPV world.

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely try the simulator sometime.

It'll work with a game pad like an xbox or PS controller, but if you get serious, you'll want an actual drone radio controller. If you have a DJI camera drone, you should be able to use that. I spent like 100 hours in the simulator before I ever flew a physical drone.

I could find a PS controller somewhere. I don't own a DJI. I'll have to make do with what I have :-)

If you do decide you want to get further with it, check out the Radiomaster Pocket. It's similar in size and form as a game controller, but can actually control a drone. FPV Sky.Dive is a game on Steam that you can get for free to start. They have map expansions and such you can purchase, but it's free to get started. Liftoff is my sim of choice right now. It's pretty amazing, but costs $20.
