Random Pop Day

Hola, Tuesday!

A very quiet morning in DD, with only the birds chirping as they moved from one tree to another, and up the roof. People seem to be having a laid-back day. We noticed that only a few vehicles passed by while we enjoyed the sunshine out in the yard. Well, I love how slow-paced life is here.

Anyway, we came inside the house by mid-morning and hit the play button on several pop songs we had (in the drafts). And here's to share my random 3 for the Three Tune Tuesday initiative by Ablaze.

The first is an emotional yet uplifting pop anthem by the British singer-songwriter who rose to prominence in 2015 when he took part in the show Britain's Got Talent, and sang "Dancing on My Own."

Calum Scott - Rise

Not my first encounter with the singer, as I've listened to his songs before, and he's one of those I would check back from time to time. Accordingly, he wrote this song during the COVID lockdown when he was down. Doing it helped him through and regain optimism. It was released as the second single for his album, Bridges, in October 2021.

Calum's emotional vocals gave more emphasis to the song's lyrics, and the pounding drums and other instruments added strength too. Love how he started softly and more restrained, then gradually got louder.

The next tune is a bright indie pop song that got my ears hooked for a while.

Fly By Midnight - No Choice

The LA‑based duo, singer‑songwriter Justin Bryte and producer/songwriter Slavo, released this song as a digital single in April 2021. The rhythmic guitars and synths, plus the driving beats, made this song danceable. It could be a good track to listen to while driving, and dancing with it just like the people in the music video are doing, lol!

Guess I liked this for its beats, which are fun and friendly to the ears.

And finally, the last for the day, is a pop-rock by the American alt‑pop and pop‑rock band, who shared stages with other artists (Journey, Kelly Clarkson, etc).

The Strike - The Getaway

I hadn't known this band before, but the first time I listened to this song, I already liked their style.

Released in March 2024, this '80s-inspired song has that road-trip vibe with its retro sound. I love the steady drums and bass guitar, which make it quite a relaxing listen.

And let me end this with the chorus lyrics, which would surely be on my head for a little while today.

And I know you will be riding
Shotgun in my car for the getaway
Cutting through the brake lights up ahead
And even though all is lost
I'm lost with you
And I'm fighting
Every step, but I can't turn the page
Still, you say you trust me all the same
And even though all is lost
I'm lost with you

Smile... laugh often... love more... be grateful always!

It’s so lovely reading about your quiet morning in DD. Hearing only the birds and seeing just a few cars pass by sounds like paradise for disconnecting. I love that this peace inspired you to pull those songs out of your drafts; the environment definitely influences what we listen to
