Vide - Aldeia de Montanha, Seia, Portugal - Bruno Netto 2023

Good evening, friends

Today, I want to share with you a piece of work that's a little different from what I've been publishing... This mural by a local artist shows great dedication, despite his naive brushstrokes. This mural, over 30 meters long and more than 2.5 meters high, was completed by just one person who, over the course of three weeks during the month of June this year, came to breathe life into a bare wall.

Thus, from a wall that only served to contain landslides, Aldeia de Vide, located in the center of Portugal, very close to the highest point in mainland Portugal, became a calling card for those who drive through it.

We know it's not a masterpiece of street art, but it certainly tries to capture and convey in a large painting all the strength and courage of a people who have always lived at the foot of the mountain, accustomed to the natural demands of the region.

From transhumance and pastoralism, to sheep and goat farming, the production of the famous Serra da Estrela semi-cured cheese, not forgetting the Fire Brigade (which is of the utmost importance in this region, as year after year they are called upon to fight forest fires of enormous proportions, and unfortunately almost exclusively of criminal origin), and not forgetting the reservoirs and streams distributed throughout the municipality, which are a delight for summertime visitors.

First of all, I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of most of the photos I publish here. I didn't have much natural light, and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to record this moment in my image.
