Do the Evolution [CCC's Street Art Contest #143]

Evolution implies that there is a path to improvement, personal or of the group... Nowadays, not as rarely as we might think, the most common thing is that this "evolution" only has as a goal or objective to try to "milk" as much as possible the resources or everything around us. Sometimes evolution is just as much about taking a "step back" and pondering what we really "need" and what actually makes us valid people who contribute to improving our surroundings, including ourselves.

This week I would like to share with you this little idea, so that you can reflect and ponder on so many things that we think are necessary for our existence, or even our survival, and that in fact the only addition they lead to is the increase of our ego and what we think is fundamental for our comfort.

We are just a few hours away from entering May 8th, a day that is used to celebrate and remember and pay tribute to all the victims of World War II. It is amazing, that a little more than five years after eighty years of this barbarism, this year so many blood feuds with bloodshed are still so alive on this planet, which we think is ours for the taking. These disputes in the name of something that we consider to be fundamental... Not wanting to extend myself much more on this subject that causes me so much sadness and discomfort... knowing that at a little more than 4.000 Km or 2500 Miles atrocities are happening every hour that passes.

Let's hope that the evolution of Man, passes through the respect of the individuality of nations, and the life of those who are there.

This mural executed by the artist João Cavalheiro (FB) demonstrates the ferocity of nature illustrated in the most basic survival instinct. A necessity, and nothing like what is happening today in so many parts of our world.

All this escalation of gratuitous, selfish and insane violence led me to remember a song by a group I like so much, Pear Jam. I think the lyrics are quite explanatory and serve perfectly as a caption for this piece of street art that I leave you here.
