The Image Of God. MCGI TOPIC REVIEW

God is a spirit. We are humans. We were created in the image of God. But being created in the image of God, we are not carrying the body that resembles that of God. It is not that we have two hands like God or that God is walking with two legs like us. God has no specific physical body. He is not in the likeness of anyone. God is a spirit.

The Bible warns us that we should not try to make the invisible God in the likeness of anyone. We should not imagine that the invisible God looks like any creature. When we are thinking of making an image for God we should understand that he doesn't look like anything which he has created. God is God. Those who make idols and refer to them as God, are wrong. The God who created the heavens and the earth is not in the likeness of any creature.

What then is the image of God that we carry? The Bible says that we should be holy as God is. So, the image of God is holiness. Good is holy and we are called unto this. We should be holy as our Lord is. This is why Jesus Christ referred to some people as the children of the devil. They were liars as the devil. So it is the nature of the devil to lie. If you lie then you are not the seed of God, you are rather the seed of the devil.
