What is Religion?- MCGI Topic Review

Have you ever wondered what true religion really means, I mean there are so many beliefs out there and sometimes it can feel so overwhelming to just figure out, what it is and what is not. But the bible has given us clear answer about what religion is and how we can know if it is good and pure.

So friends let's dive into this together and see how the bible teaches us to worship God in a way that is meaningful and inspiring.

The bible tells us what religion entails. It's all about worshiping and serving God. In Greek the word for religion means a worship or a sermon of servants, but this is not about going through motions.

In the book of James chapter 1: 26, The bible tells us that if someone claims to be a religious person but speaks very carelessly and he or she is used to spreading hate, then their claim for religion is in vain.

This shows us that there is a difference between true religion and a fake version. True religion isn't just about mere words, it's a lifestyle of love and integrity.

What does true religion look like in James 1: 27?

This explains it well. Religion that God our father choose as pure and flawless. The religion that allows us look after orphans and widows, those who are in their distress and also to keep oneself clean and holy and away from all the sins in this world.

Religion is about caring for those who need it most and living a life which reflects that of God and goodness in your life and helps us to stick to God's value. The Bible also points out that the church of God is a place where we worship, a place where true worship happens.

In the book of 1 Timothy 3 vs 15, Paul calls the church of God and he calls it the pillar and the ground of the truth where we learn how to live, worship and treat others.

The church is like a spiritual home where we are taught to live by God's ways and we are taught of how we should worship. John 4 vs 23 to 24 says to worship as to honour God both in spirit and in truth. I mean our worship comes from a sincere heart and this aligns with God's words and what he has told us to do.

It is not about chasing idols or creatures.
Even the book of Romans 1 vs 23 to 25 warns against worshipping anything other than the Creator and this might lead to false religion.

Worshipping anything other than the Creator leads to false religion but focusing on God brings us closer to a good and pure religion. We must shine through actions. Actions speak louder than words.

So our religions must reflect in our actions this one that lifts people up.It spreads kindness and reflects God's words. When I think about this, it inspires me to live with purpose and to speak kindly by helping others, worshipping God with all my heart.

This is what we call religion. It is not just about being perfect. It is about growing and growing closer to God which makes the big difference. So let's embrace this beautiful call to worship God in spirit and truth. In this way, you show love in your daily life.
