Hola querido hiver.

Ante la pregunta What is written in your notebooks? mi respuesta corta es: ¿qué es lo que no está escrito en mis cuadernos? Lo cierto es que sufro de un síndrome de Diógenes cuadernil en estado grave. Muy grave. El mismísimo filósofo griego se tiraría a las aguas del Cefiso si viera lo que os voy a mostrar en este post.

Por otro lado, también surge una bonita coincidencia: @mipiano ha elegido ese mes y no otro para dedicarlo al tema que se le propuse en los comentarios de mi anterior participación. Y Febrero es un mes especial para mí porque (atención: pista 😉) soy Acuario, lo que se traduce en que comparto signo zodiacal y día de nacimiento con... ¡Paris Hilton! 😂 Lástima que no compartamos también la cuenta corriente. 🙄

Celebremos, pues, y buceemos juntos en este mar de papel.

¿Por dónde empiezo? Al menos ya los tengo clasificados por tipos o tamaños. Avancemos...

¡Adjudicado! Los bloques de notas. En todos los tamaños y formatos, desde A4 al A8 y procedentes de hoteles, congresos, cursos o librerías. Todos están en blanco, ya que su uso es para anotaciones temporales.

El siguiente apartado son cuadernos de espiral en tamaño A4. Fueron mis preferidos cuando terminé de la universidad, pues estaba acostumbrada a escribir mucho. Los he utilizado para los muchos cursos que he hecho desde entonces. En algunos parece que escribo en clave criptográfica con tantas abreviaturas e iniciales. 😂

Pronto comprendí que el futuro es del tamaño A5. Perfecto para llevar en el bolso sin que resulte demasiado pesado ni abultado. Los de la fila de arriba son recolectados de jornadas, cursos o congresos en los que he asistido. Para la fila de abajo sigue leyendo y te cuento un poco más.

Estos dos son artesanales. El de la derecha me lo regaló una amiga y está realizado por pacientes de un centro de día de salud mental. Me encantan sus siluetas de mariposas y flores. El de la izquierda lo fabriqué yo misma con las manos que ahora teclean este post. Ese día aprendí lo que es el cosido japonés y lo cursi que puedo llegar a ser pintando títulos.

Estos dos también son manufacturados, en este caso por las manos de mi padre. Es aficionado a la encuadernación, por eso en mi casa nunca han faltado los cuadernos de notas. Y supongo que algo ha tenido que ver en mi atracción por ellos. Si el subtítulo CD-Rs te suena de algo, has acertado en tu sospecha. En ese cuaderno apuntaba el contenido de los discos compactos que grababa con selecciones de canciones. ¿Recuerdas alguna de esas melodías?

Los siguiente dos son mi gran fiasco y su contrapartida, mi favorito. Te cuento por qué:

El de la izquierda es un Rocketbook. Es un cuaderno especial que sirve para digitalizar lo que escribes a mano. Se tiene que usar con bolígrafos de tinta borrable mediante calor o pasándole un paño húmedo. El contenido se pasa a digital con la cámara del móvil y una app. Al poco tiempo de comprármelo (que por cierto no fue nada barato, unos 40 euros), se empezó a generalizar el reconocimiento de texto con el sistema OCR, lo que facilitaba todo este proceso y dejó de tener sentido utilizarlo. Además, por mucho que me esforzaba en hacer una letra entendible la mitad de lo que escribía no lo reconocía. En fin, una inversión desastrosa que ahora duerme en un cajón.

Menos mal que lo compenso con mi cuaderno de la vaca Marilyn, jajaja. Me encaaaanta el diseño. Es de Kukuxumusu, una marca que tiene diseños divertidos y es originaria de Pamplona, la ciudad de los famosos encierros de toros. En este cuaderno llevo el registro de cómo evoluciona mi cuenta de Hive, anotando cada semana y cada mes varias métricas y sus variaciones para no desviarme demasiado de mis objetivos. En un trabajo de hormiga que te da información interesante con el tiempo, merece la pena ese pequeño esfuerzo.

Otro grupo está formado por mi cuaderno del viajero y sus recambios. Se trata de una funda de cuero en la que mediante un ingenioso sistema de gomas elásticas se pueden insertar hasta tres cuadernillos. Es perfecto para separar contenidos llevando un mismo cuaderno... pero su peso lo hace incómodo y los recambios son feos para mi gusto. Ni con pegatinas me satisface el resultado.

Llegamos a las agendas. Las he probado de todas las maneras posibles, predominando las de tamaño A5.

Durante un tiempo usé una de anillas con recambios, con diseño de Santoro London. ¡Me encantan sus muñecas Gorjuss! Su desgaste es prueba de su uso, es súper práctica porque puedes personalizarla como necesites. Al inicio usaba un recambio de agenda con los días marcados y al final añadía hojas en blanco para notas. Hacía listas para todo, hasta de los ejemplares que me faltaban cuando jugaba al Pokémon Go. 😂

Unos años después me volví más seria. Como ya no necesitaba apuntar demasiadas cosas en días concretos y tampoco me gustaba desperdiciar las agendas con días y días en blanco, investigué y descubrí el mundo del bullet journal. Ya escribí cómo lo utilizo, pero básicamente es un cuaderno con las páginas numeradas en el que vas escribiendo todo seguido y se organiza mediante un índice. Sin grandes huecos ni páginas en blanco.

Tengo algunos cuadernos esperando a ser estrenados, como los dos de arriba a la derecha. Los usaré para las reflexiones diarias que hago con el Diario para estoicos de Ryan Holiday. El resto son para llevar en el bolso o mochila cuando tengo alguna reunión o encuentro, como hago con el de Hive.

Hi, dear hiver.

When asked What is written in your notebooks? my short answer is: what isn't written in my notebooks? The truth is that I suffer from a severe case of Diogenes syndrome with notebook hoarding. Very severe. The Greek philosopher himself would throw himself into the waters of the Cephissus if he saw what I am going to show you in this post.

On the other hand, there is also a nice coincidence: @mipiano has chosen this month and no other to dedicate to the topic I suggested in the comments on my previous post. And February is a special month for me because (attention: hint 😉) I am an Aquarius, which means I share my zodiac sign and birthday with... Paris Hilton! 😂 Too bad we don't also share the same bank account. 🙄

So let's celebrate and dive together into this sea of paper.

Where do I start? At least I've already sorted them by type and size. Let's move on...

Sold! Notepads. In all sizes and formats, from A4 to A8, from hotels, conferences, courses, or bookshops. They are all blank, as they are used for temporary notes.

The next section is A4 spiral notebooks. These were my favourites when I finished university, as I was used to writing a lot. I have used them for the many courses I have taken since then. In some of them, it looks like I am writing in code with so many abbreviations and initials. 😂

I soon realised that the future is A5 size. Perfect for carrying in your bag without being too heavy or bulky. The ones in the top row are collected from conferences, courses or congresses I have attended. For the bottom row, keep reading and I'll tell you a little more.

These two are handmade. The one on the right was given to me by a friend and was made by patients at a mental health day centre. I love their butterfly and flower silhouettes. The one on the left was made by me, with the hands that are now typing this post. That day, I learned about Japanese stitching and how corny I can be when painting titles.

These two are also handmade, in this case by my father. He is fond of bookbinding, which is why there has never been a shortage of notebooks in my house. And I suppose that has had something to do with my attraction to them. If the subtitle CD-Rs rings a bell, your suspicion is correct. In that notebook, I wrote down the contents of the compact discs I recorded with selections of songs. Do you remember any of those melodies?

The next two are my big fiasco and its counterpart, my favourite. Let me tell you why:

The one on the left is a Rocketbook. It's a special notebook that digitises what you write by hand. It has to be used with ink pens that can be erased with heat or a damp cloth. The content is transferred using your mobile phone camera and an app. Shortly after I bought it (which, by the way, wasn't cheap at around €40), OCR text recognition became widespread, which made the whole process easier and meant that using it no longer made sense. What's more, no matter how hard I tried to write legibly, half of what I wrote wasn't recognised. In short, it was a disastrous investment that now lies dormant in a drawer.

Luckily, I make up for it with my Marilyn cow notebook, ha ha ha. I loooove the design. It's from Kukuxumusu, a brand that has fun designs and is originally from Pamplona, the city of the famous bull runs. In this notebook, I keep track of how my Hive account is evolving, noting down various metrics and their variations every week and every month so that I don't stray too far from my goals. It's painstaking work that gives you interesting information over time, but it's worth the small effort.

Another group consists of my travel journal and its refills. It is a leather cover with an ingenious elastic band system that can hold up to three notebooks. It is perfect for separating contents while carrying a single notebook... but its weight makes it uncomfortable, and the refills are unattractive, in my opinion. Even with stickers, I am not satisfied with the result.

Now we come to the diaries. I've tried them in every possible way, mainly the A5 size.

For a while, I used a ring binder with refills, designed by Santoro London. I love their Gorjuss dolls! Its wear and tear is proof of its use. It's super practical because you can customise it as you need. At first, I used a diary refill with the days marked, and at the end I added blank pages for notes. I made lists for everything, even the Pokémon I was missing when I played Pokémon Go. 😂

A few years later, I became more serious. As I no longer needed to write down too many things on specific days and didn't like wasting diaries with days and days left blank, I did some research and discovered the world of bullet journals. I've already written about how I use it, but basically it's a notebook with numbered pages where you write everything down in sequence and organise it using an index. No big gaps or blank pages.

I have a few notebooks waiting to be used for the first time, like the two on the top right. I'll use them for my daily reflections with Ryan Holiday's Diary for Stoics. The rest are for carrying in my bag or backpack when I have a meeting or appointment, as I do with the Hive one.
