Celebrating Indian Independence day on 15 August
Hello, and greetings. Happy Independence Day to all my Indian brothers and sisters. Here I celebrate 15 August with food in the colors of our Indian flag. The orange for strength, The white for truth, and the green for peace. I also made dessert with berries in the design of our Norwegian flag.
It is so simple mostly the time I used was to take photos and arrangement.
now that @qurator announced the top hive chef theme Colorful. I will enter this post for that contest. It is not bright bright colors abut I don't want to use artificial colors. Just managed with food similar to the colors orange green and white.
Three colors hummus, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato, and carrot.
Green color hummus used green peas, white with cauliflower, and orange with paprika and chickpeas.
Used red currants, blueberries, banana, and nectarine.
In making different colors of hummus I used these ingredients:
1 cup of chickpeas.
3 tbsp tahini
3/4 cup frozen green peas
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 red paprika
2 florets of cauliflower
1/2 frozen lemon
1/2 lemon juice
3 garlic cloves.
1 small broccoli
1 small cauliflower
1 sweet potato
1 cup baby carrots
Salt pepper to taste.
Cut paprika and roasted it with a few drops of olive oil.
cooked green peas.
Drained water from chickpeas.
Washed and cut florets from cauliflower and cooked them.
I grated frozen lemon and made some slices of half lemon.
Here I used three different bowls each with different ingredients.
In a small mixer added the green hummus ingredients.
The lemon juice and oil.
Blended it until it fine paste.
Cauliflower, tahini, salt pepper, garlic, lime juice and olive oil
Blended in a mixer to fine-paste.
Blended chickpeas with tahini, garlic, salt pepper, lemon slices, olive oil, and extra lemon juice. until fine paste.
Three colors of hummus.
Washed cauliflower and broccoli in hot water with salt. cut a sweet potato in slices I used only one.
Washed vegetables are put in the steamer stand.
I used a normal pan to steam them.
I steamed vegetables for around 4-5 minutes.
Arranging hummus and vegetables:
first, chickpeas hummus.
Then white color from cauliflower.
and in the center green.
Used spoon handle to make little design.
Here I arranged steamed vegetables first putting the hummus plate in the center.
The broccoli, then cauliflower, and at the edge of the plate sweet potato and baby carrots.
Used 3/4 banana 1/2 cup frozen red currant, and around 20 blueberries, half nectarine.
Here not so much work just cut a banana into thin strips arranged them according to flag shape and arranged berries. Here I should use a few more blueberries. we learn by making mistakes.
Here our colorful independence day dinner with some extra avocado and tomato slices.
Thank you.

I would love to have that plate of exciting hummus varieties. I have made different kinds of hummus but not cauliflower or peas. What a great idea. Yum. As always your plates are so pretty.
I don't like artificial color as well.
