Special Dragon Fruit That I Haven't Found For A Long Time!

Look at this exotic dragon fruit! With a unique shape and sweet taste.

IMG_2706.jpeg

I am always excited when shopping at a fruit and vegetable store. I always hope that I can find small surprises from types of vegetables or fruits that I don't find every day.

Sometimes the sellers who are used to seeing me at the market will offer me certain types of fruits and vegetables that they think are worth buying. Usually I will be happy to buy types of vegetables or fruits that feel like a treasure to me that are valuable and hard to find on normal days.

IMG_2697.jpeg

Like this time I was very happy when a waiter at a fruit shop offered me a fruit that I had never found anywhere else. Well, the last time I wanted to eat this type of fruit was when I was little and that was decades ago.

IMG_2700.jpeg

This type of fruit is white dragon fruit. The flesh of this dragon fruit is white. While the outer skin of the dragon fruit is yellow. This fruit is imported from Taiwan and I was very happy when I found this fruit again.

IMG_20250127_204855.jpg

For 1 kg of white dragon fruit, it is priced at around $5.3. Indeed, if in rupiah exchange rates it is very expensive for comparison with local fruits. Because white dragon fruit is a fruit imported from Taiwan.

IMG_2699.jpeg

The story is different with red dragon fruit, red dragon fruit can always be found in local markets.

IMG_2698.jpeg
This is because red dragon fruit can be cultivated in my area. That is the reason why the price of red dragon fruit is also relatively cheaper than white dragon fruit.

Well, the dragon fruit tree is indeed in the same family as the cactus tree. The texture of the dragon fruit is also soft, just like cactus fruit in general. With a sweet taste.

IMG_2707.jpeg

I will show you the inside of the red dragon fruit and white dragon fruit. Basically, both red dragon fruit and white dragon fruit have black seeds, of course the black seeds can be eaten. So the texture of the dragon fruit flesh feels seeded, but it does not interfere with the overall texture of the fruit flesh when eaten.

IMG_2710.jpeg

IMG_2709.jpeg

Anyway, let's the dragon fruit type for taste. Which is more delicious? Fo me, the answer depends on the taste preferences of each person. Well, some people like very sweet fruit. Also, there are also people who like fruit that is not too sweet.

IMG_2708.jpeg

I will choose white dragon fruit because the taste not really sweet like red dragon fruit. That's why I'm very happy to find white dragon fruit again.

Anyway, red dragon fruit also looks annoying, especially when we try to cut the dragon fruit into two parts, our hands will be as red as blood and the red stains are quite difficult to clean and will leave red spots on the items we use.

IMG_2701.jpeg
So if I could choose, I would choose white dragon fruit. But if the stock of white dragon fruit is not possible in my country, then I will always love red dragon fruit. Have you ever eaten dragon fruit? Or maybe you've eaten cactus fruit? I think the taste of them will be the same because they are still in the same family.

In my country there is no such fruit, but we can get cacti

I think I've seen this fruit in my local grocers, but I have never eaten it or know of any of my family or friends who've spoken of it. What is the pulp good for? To eat as is or cook it in a dessert?

Thanks for sharing.

I see. An occasional indulgence, not to be eaten daily since it's a bit expensive. Thanks for the explanation. Take care.

I have never eaten this fruit, nor have my eyes ever looked at it, in Venezuela I have never observed it. I got to know it through this medium. While I was reading you I was saying to myself, is it sweet or citric? Hahaha and just comes the part where you say about this. I was so impressed by how strong it is that it even stains the skin. If I have eaten the captus fruit. At least I already have an idea, good to know. A big hug my Amiga, hope you enjoyed it very much. Abrazote 🤗🤗
