Por recomendación de mi padre decidí leer este libro. Revisando antes de comenzar me enteré que es un bestseller y que forma parte de una saga, centrada en la vida de Julio Cesar, líder político y militar romano. El autor es Santiago Posteguillo, publicado el 2022.

On my father's recommendation I decided to read this book. Checking before starting I found out that it is a bestseller and that it is part of a saga, centered on the life of Julius Caesar, Roman political and military leader. The author is Santiago Posteguillo, published in 2022.

Sinopsis: Roma, año 77 a.C. Julio Cesar, abogado romano, ha decidido tomar parte acusadora en un juicio difícil, contra el senador Dolabela. Para ello tendrá que reunir pruebas, testigos y buscar estrategias, para lograr algo que parece imposible.

Synopsis: Rome, year 77 B.C. Julius Caesar, Roman lawyer, has decided to take part in a difficult trial against the senator Dolabela. To do so, he will have to gather evidence, witnesses and seek strategies to achieve something that seems impossible.

Si bien el foco del libro es el juicio contra el senador Dolabela. El libro retrocede en el tiempo en variados momentos para entender los antecedentes del juicio. Desde los bandos enfrentados, las personalidades que lo precedieron como Cayo Mario, la relación de Julio Cesar con su familia y amigos, y unas batallas hábilmente narradas.

Although the focus of the book is the trial against Senator Dolabela. The book goes back in time in various moments to understand the background of the trial. From the opposing sides, the personalities that preceded it such as Gaius Marius, Julius Caesar's relationship with his family and friends, and some skillfully narrated battles.

Se muestran mucho los juegos políticos y la estrategia militar comunes de esa época. En el área política vemos la corrupción y las argucias que se realizaron para mantener el poder y abusar de él. En la parte militar, el libro nos muestra dos batallas que implican a personajes del libro: la batalla de Aquae Sextiae y la batalla de Mitilene. En ellas, veremos la tensión que genera encontrarse en puntos de no retorno, donde la muerte es casi una certeza.

The political games and military strategy common at the time are shown in great detail. In the political area we see the corruption and chicanery that went on to maintain and abuse power. In the military part, the book shows us two battles involving characters from the book: the battle of Aquae Sextiae and the battle of Mytilene. In them, we will see the tension generated by being at points of no return, where death is almost a certainty.

Como libro histórico, más allá de lo mencionado, nos permitirá conocer los modos y usos de la República Romana. En ello, su relación con los dioses, la formación de parejas políticas, la expansión romana y su relación con sus nuevos ciudadanos, y otros aspectos más.

En el tramo final veremos la resolución del juicio, como en que terminan Julio Cesar y otros personajes, antes de lo que vendrá en la continuación, Maldita Roma. Es un buen libro, por la capacidad de mantener el interés constante, es ligero de leer a pesar de las paginas, lo único complicado será recordar algunos nombres propios.

In the final section we will see the resolution of the trial, as in which Julius Caesar and other characters end up, before what will come in the continuation, Damned Rome. It is a good book, for the ability to maintain constant interest, it is light to read despite the pages, the only complicated thing will be to remember some names.
