This time we come to the fifth book of the saga, one of my favorites, it was also the last one that was adapted to film, and although I do not consider it as a bad adaptation, obviously it can not be compared to its literary namesake 😉 But now without further ado let's start with this review 🤗.

En esta ocasión llegamos al quinto libro de la saga, uno de mis favoritos, fue además el último que adaptaron al cine, y aunque no lo considero como una mala adaptación, obviamente no se puede comparar a su homónimo literario 😉 Pero ahora sin más preámbulo comencemos con esta review 🤗.

Overview/Resumen

The Pevensie siblings are separated, as their parents had to travel to the United States for work and took Peter and Susan with them, while Edmund and Lucy were sent with their cousin Eustace, an arrogant and whiny boy who wasted no opportunity to make them feel uncomfortable for being in a house that was not theirs. At a certain point, Edmund and Lucy are dragged back into that wonderful parallel world, but this time, as fate would have it, their cousin Eustace was also sent there with them. Soon they realized that they were not in Narnia, but aboard a sailing ship commanded by King Caspian and his crew, they were in search of 7 Narnian lords who were in distant lands, so on the way they discover new creatures and live so many adventures that end up convincing the petulant Eustance that his cousins were right when they talked about Narnia and everything that happened in those distant lands.

Los hermanos Pevensie se separan, ya que sus padres tuvieron que viajar a Estados Unidos por asuntos de trabajo y se llevaron con ellos a Peter y a Susan, mientras que Edmund y Lucy fueron enviados con su primo Eustace, un chico arrogante y quejumbroso que no perdía oportunidad para hacerlos sentir incómodos por estar en un casa que no era la suya. En cierto momento, Edmund y Lucy son arrastrados de nuevo hacia ese maravilloso mundo paralelo, pero en esta ocasión, por azares del destino su primo Eustace también fue llegó allí con ellos. Pronto se dieron cuenta que no estaban en Narnia, sino a bordo de una embarcación de Vela comandada por el rey Caspian y su tripulación, estaban en la búsqueda de 7 lores narnianos que estaban en tierras distantes, así que en el camino descubren nuevas criaturas y viven tantas aventuras que terminan de convencer al petulante Eustance que sus primos tenían razón cuando hablaban de Narnia y de todo lo que sucedía en esas tierras lejanas.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión

I remember that one of the things I did not like about the film adaptation was the approach they gave to Caspian's character, they gave him an arrogant and petulant touch that he never had in the books, in the literary version Caspian was a firm and determined king but he never discredited the role of the Penvensie as supreme monarchs (since they were the saviors of Narnia and history remembered them for that feat).

Recuerdo que una de las cosas que no me gustó de la adaptación cinematográfica fue el enfoque que le dieron al personaje de Caspian, le dieron un toque arrogante y petulante que nunca tuvo en los libros, en la versión literaria Caspian era un rey firme y decidido pero jamás desacredito el rol de los Penvensie como monarcas supremos (ya que fueron los salvadores de Narnia y la historia los recordaba por esa hazaña)

I think this is one of the Narnia books with more adventures to live, due to the amount of places the characters visit and the adventures lived, so the reading not only becomes enjoyable but addictive, each adventure is unique and serves a specific purpose, helping the characters to evolve naturally, making them wiser.

Creo que este es uno de los libros de Narnia con más aventuras por vivir, debido a la cantidad de lugares que visitan los personajes y a las aventuras vividas, así que la lectura no solo se vuelve amena sino adictiva, cada aventura es única y sirve para un propósito en especifico, ayudando a los personajes a evolucionar de forma natural, volviéndolos más sabios.

One of the things I liked the most was precisely the evolution of the characters, which is much more intense here, on the one hand we have Reepicheep who is always shrewd, effusive and even violent, ends up learning to see far beyond appearances, while Eustance experiences firsthand what it is like to be a victim of a priori judgments when he ends up turned into a dragon because of his greed. He, like Edmund was tempted and succumbed to sin, which brought a serious consequence, but as we already know that Narnia is full of biblical and religious references, we have Aslan as guide, protector and sobering, and this leads me to talk about one of the most beautiful scenes of the whole book, when he helps Eustance to get rid of the dragon skin, which causes her a lot of pain, but Aslan explains to her that it is a beautiful pain because it is the equivalent of repentance, repentance really hurts, but it brings you closer to your purest and most beautiful essence, to your innocent and free of evil part.

Una de las cosas que más me gustó fue precisamente la evolución de los personajes, la cual es mucho más intensa aquí, por un lado tenemos a Reepicheep quien siempre es sagaz, efusivo y hasta violento, termina aprendiendo a ver mucho más allá de las apariencias, mientras que Eustance experimenta en carne propia lo que es ser víctima de juicios a priori al terminar convertido en dragón por causa de su codicia. Él, al igual que Edmund fue tentado y sucumbió al pecado, lo que acarreó una grave consecuencia, pero como ya sabemos que Narnia está lleno de referencias bíblicas y religiosas, tenemos a Aslan como guía, protector y aleccionador, y esto me lleva a hablar de una de las escenas más hermosas de todo el libro, cuando él le ayuda a Eustance a deshacerse de la piel de dragón, lo cual le causa mucho dolor, pero Aslan le explica que es un dolor hermoso porque es el equivalente al arrepentimiento, el arrepentimiento duele de verdad, pero te acerca más a tu esencia más pura y hermosa, a tu parte inocente y libre de maldad.

We also have two other important facts worth mentioning, on the one hand Edmund and Lucy reached an age where they can no longer return to Narnia (remember that biblical quote that says that to enter the kingdom of heaven you must be like a child? ) and on the other hand we have the fact that Susan no longer liked to talk about Narnia, little by little she was leaving it in oblivion while she was lost and carried away by the interests of the parallel world, what we could call “our world” It happens when we let ourselves be tempted and overcome by that temptation, forgetting what we are and what we were created for.

También tenemos otros dos hechos importantes y dignos de mencionar, por un lado Edmund y Lucy alcanzaron una edad en la que ya no pueden regresar a Narnia (¿Recuerdan esa cita bíblica que dice que para entrar al reino de los cielos debes ser como un niño?) y por otra parte tenemos el hecho de que a Susan ya no le gustaba hablar sobre Narnia, poco a poco la fue dejando en el olvido mientras se perdía y se dejaba llevar por los intereses del mundo paralelo, lo que podríamos llamar "nuestro mundo" Sucede cuando nos dejamos tentar y vencer por esa tentación, olvidando lo que somos y para lo que fuimos creados.

Lucy on the other hand is terrified at the thought of not returning to Narnia and never seeing Aslan again, but he answers her something so beautiful that to this day I carry it in my mind and it has become my favorite line from the book “In your world I am known by another name 😢” Which means Aslan is our Jesus.

Lucy en cambio se aterra ante la idea de no regresar a Narnia y no volver a ver a Aslan, pero él le responde algo tan hermoso que hasta ahora lo llevo en mi mente y se ha convertido en mi frase favorita del libro "En tu mundo me conocen con otro nombre 😢" Lo que significa que Aslan es nuestro Jesús.

Narnia is a great saga that as I have said on previous occasions, serves to entertain you as a child but serves to reflect when you are an adult, Narnia is an opportunity to restart, to purify yourself from the outside world, to be able to return to it with a clean soul, wiser and more human. Narnia es una saga grandiosa que tal como he dicho en ocasiones anteriores, sirve para entretenerte cuando eres niño pero te sirve para reflexionar cuando eres un adulto, Narnia es una oportunidad para recomenzar, para depurarte del mundo exterior, para poder volver a él con alma limpia, más sabio y más humano.
