📚 Book Review: The Fires of Heaven [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos lectores! Espero que estén teniendo muy buenas lecturas. Hoy les traigo la reseña del 5to libro de la saga La rueda del tiempo: Cielo en llamas del autor Robert Jordan.

Hello, readers! I hope you are enjoying your reading. Today I bring you a review of the fifth book in The Wheel of Time series: The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan.

Este 5to libro sigue de manera directa los acontecimientos vividos en el libro pasado. Rand fue proclamado como El que viene con el alba por el pueblo Aiel y ahora se encamina a volver a su tierra para luchar contra los Renegados del Oscuro. Este último todavía sigue en la prisión, pero los sellos que lo contienen cada vez son más débiles. Mientras tanto, las Aes Sedai viven momentos muy turbulentos por el cambio de líder. Y nuestros héroes se encuentran cada uno haciendo su parte en el entramado, enfrentando sus propios miedos y metas por cumplir que los acercaran cada vez más a la batalla final. Lo único que tienen claro es que no pueden confiar ni en su propia sombra porque hay enemigos acechándolos por todas partes, hasta en sus sueños.

This fifth book directly follows the events of the previous book. Rand was proclaimed the Chosen One by the Aiel people and is now on his way back to his homeland to fight the Dark One's renegades. The Dark One is still in prison, but the seals holding him are growing weaker. Meanwhile, the Aes Sedai are going through very turbulent times due to the change in leadership. And our heroes are each doing their part in the plot, facing their own fears and goals to fulfill that will bring them closer and closer to the final battle. The only thing they are sure of is that they cannot trust even their own shadows because there are enemies lurking everywhere, even in their dreams.

Me tomó alrededor de 3 meses o más leer este libro. En el medio, cuando lo empecé, recién se había estrenado la nueva temporada de la serie así que un poco se me mezclaban los acontecimientos con los que leí en el libro anterior. Después salió la noticia de que cancelaron la serie y fue muy duro porque considero que era muy buena y se estaba acomodando a la trama. Pero bueno, por fortuna todavía quedan los libros para saber cómo termina esta historia. Eso sí, la leo despacio y a mi ritmo porque es bastante larga y densa de leer.

It took me about three months or more to read this book. When I started it, the new season of the series had just premiered, so I got a little confused between the events I read about in the previous book and what was happening in the series. Then the news came out that the series had been canceled, which was very hard because I thought it was very good and was settling into the plot. But anyway, fortunately, there are still the books to find out how the story ends. Of course, I read it slowly and at my own pace because it's quite long and dense to read.

El principal conflicto de estos libros es que abundan en descripciones que a nadie le importan, entonces se hace tedioso. Los diálogos son escasos y cuando hay también parecen monólogos jaja. Pero la trama es interesante y tiende a enganchar por partes, es por eso que todavía sigo leyéndola, sino la hubiese abandonado. También estoy super encariñada con los personajes y de verdad me encantaría ver el resultado final. Así que me esforzaré para ir avanzando con sus libros y poder terminarla en algún momento.

The main problem with these books is that they are full of descriptions that no one cares about, which makes them tedious. The dialogues are scarce, and when there are any, they seem like monologues, haha. But the plot is interesting and tends to hook you in parts, which is why I'm still reading it; otherwise, I would have given up. I'm also very fond of the characters and would really love to see the final outcome. So I'll make an effort to keep reading your books and finish them at some point.

Este libro tuvo sus altas y bajas, a veces se ponía muuuuy interesante y otras volvía a bajar. Extrañe a Perrin y Faile, pero bueno, en esta ocasión logré conectar con Aviendha, me encantó su personaje, fue uno de mis favoritos en este libro y casi me da algo hacia el final, menos mal que se arregló. Pero igual hay otras cosillas que pasaron que me hacen dudar mucho, así que lo tomo con pinzas.

This book had its ups and downs; sometimes it got really interesting, and other times it slowed down again. I missed Perrin and Faile, but hey, this time I managed to connect with Aviendha. I loved her character; she was one of my favorites in this book, and I almost had a heart attack toward the end, but luckily everything worked out. Still, there are other things that happened that make me very skeptical, so I'm taking it with a grain of salt.

La verdad es que no lo tenía planeado, pero el final me dio muchas ganas de empezar el 6to de inmediato jajaja. Pero me contuve porque ya era demasiado, quiero leer otras cosas y quizá antes de fin de año arranque con el próximo. Veremos qué decido. Por ahora, y a pesar de todo, es una saga que todavía me gusta, sino no querría seguir leyéndola. Pero me tomaré un descanso de la trama. Por lo pronto, hasta acá dejo esta reseña improvisada que más que hablarles del libro, les hice un descargo de lo que me produce leerla.

The truth is that I hadn't planned it, but the ending made me want to start the sixth one right away, ha ha ha. But I held back because it was too much. I want to read other things, and maybe before the end of the year I'll start the next one. We'll see what I decide. For now, despite everything, it's a series that I still like, otherwise I wouldn't want to keep reading it. But I'll take a break from the plot. For now, I'll leave this improvised review here, which, rather than telling you about the book, is more of a statement of how reading it makes me feel.
