📚 Book Review: Our Infinite Fates [ES/EN]

Hoy me paso por acá para traerles la reseña de un libro de fantasía que te cautiva desde el principio y no podes soltar hasta resolver el misterio detrás de la maldición que acompaña a los protagonistas. Así que les comparto mi opinión acerca de Nuestros destinos infinitos de la autora Laura Steven.

Today I stop by to bring you the review of a fantasy book that captivates you from the beginning and you can't let go until you solve the mystery behind the curse that accompanies the main characters. So I share with you my opinion about Our Infinite Fates by author Laura Steven.

Bran es una joven que vive en Gales y aparenta tener una vida común aunque cargada de tragedia. Perdió a su padre en un trágico accidente y ahora su hermana pequeña sufre una terrible enfermedad y ella es la única que puede salvarla donando su médula ósea, el obstáculo es que está apunto de cumplir 18 años y en ninguna de sus otras vidas fue capaz de superar esa edad porque hay alguien que la caza y la mata una y otra vez antes de cumplir la mayoría de edad. Lo peor de todo es que la persona que la caza, también es la persona de la que se enamora en cada vida que tienen y al cumplir sus destinos mueren los dos, reencarnando en otras vidas para volver al punto de inicio. Pero Bran, o mejor dicho Evelyn, está decidida a descubrir la verdad detrás de la maldición para poder romperla y así salvar tanto su vida como la de su hermana.

Bran is a young woman who lives in Wales and appears to have an ordinary life, although full of tragedy. She lost her father in a tragic accident and now her little sister suffers from a terrible disease and she is the only one who can save her by donating her bone marrow, the obstacle is that she is about to turn 18 and in none of her other lives was able to overcome that age because there is someone who hunts her and kills her again and again before she comes of age. Worst of all is that the person who hunts her is also the person she falls in love with in every life they have and when they fulfill their destinies they both die, reincarnating in other lives to return to the starting point. But Bran, or rather Evelyn, is determined to discover the truth behind the curse in order to break it and save both her life and that of her sister.

¿Qué harías si la persona que amas es la que te mata en cada vida? Un tema super interesante, abordado de una manera bastante trágica. Dos destinos entrelazados hace más de mil años llenos de amor y dolor. Eso define bastante bien las vidas de Evelyn y Arden. La verdad es que es un libro que tiene cierto hype en redes sociales y me daba mucha curiosidad. Además de que soy super fan del tema de las vidas pasadas y la reencarnación.

What would you do if the person you love is the one who kills you in every life? A super interesting topic, approached in a rather tragic way. Two fates intertwined over a thousand years ago full of love and pain. That defines quite well the lives of Evelyn and Arden. The truth is that it's a book that has some hype on social networks and I was really curious about it. Plus I'm a super fan of the past lives and reincarnation theme.

Me hacía mal la frase de enganche de que se habían amado en miles de vidas y matado en cada una de ellas, porque sí, no es unidireccional, a veces es uno el que toma la iniciativa de hacerlo antes que el otro. Pero nunca conocemos la verdadera razón hasta el final y el único que sabe más o menos la verdad es Arden porque Evelyn solo recuerda sus últimas 6 vidas pasadas, pero él lo recuerda todo, aunque no dice nada.

It made me bad the hook line that they had loved each other in thousands of lives and killed in each of them, because yes, it's not one way, sometimes it's one who takes the initiative to do it before the other. But we never know the real reason until the end and the only one who knows more or less the truth is Arden because Evelyn only remembers her last 6 past lives, but he remembers everything, although he says nothing.

Así que tendremos que estar todo el libro con la duda de qué es lo que está pasando mientras los capítulos se van intercalando entre el presente en Gales y sus anteriores vidas donde los vemos amarse con la fuerza de mil soles y matarse con la misma intensidad, tanto que te hace doler el corazón. La cuestión es que sufrí un montón con esta historia, o debo decir con sus mil historias dentro de una.

So we will have to be all the book with the doubt of what is happening while the chapters are interspersed between the present in Wales and their previous lives where we see them love each other with the force of a thousand suns and kill each other with the same intensity, so much that it makes your heart ache. The point is that I suffered a lot with this story, or should I say with its thousand stories within one.

El libro está lleno de frases hermosas que te estrujan el corazón. Sus personajes te dan curiosidad y son queribles. La trama tiene un buen ritmo, pero sentí que en el medio perdió un poco de intensidad al ser todo tan repetitivo y no entender el motivo. Pero no por eso me dieron menos ganas de conocer su desenlace final, que debo decir fue inesperado. En esta ocasión trate de no hacer hipótesis, aunque había pensado algunas, pero realmente la trama no te revela casi nada hasta el final. La revelación de la maldición fue el momento culmine y ahí sentí que la historia cambió un poco y se introdujo más el lado fantasioso. No era lo que me esperaba y pienso que Evelyn se tomó bastante bien la explicación para lo que era. Yo quedé impactada jajaja, no lo vi venir.

The book is full of beautiful sentences that squeeze your heart. Its characters make you curious and loveable. The plot has a good rhythm, but I felt that in the middle it lost a bit of intensity because everything was so repetitive and I didn't understand why. But that didn't make me less eager to know the final outcome, which I must say was unexpected. This time I tried not to make hypotheses, although I had thought of some, but the plot doesn't really reveal almost nothing until the end. The revelation of the curse was the climactic moment and there I felt that the story changed a bit and the fantasy side was introduced. It wasn't what I was expecting and I think Evelyn took the explanation pretty well for what it was. I was shocked hahaha, I didn't see it coming.

Una historia como esta se merecía un final así, aunque me dejó un sabor amargo. No era el que hubiera querido, pero lo entiendo. Es como tenía que hacerse y con esto no quiero decir que no me gustó, es que me dio mucha pena por todo el resto. Pero, sin dudas fue una historia a la que volvería, me encantó leerla. La disfrute y conecte con ella, así que recomiendo su lectura.

A story like this deserved such an ending, although it left a bitter taste in my mouth. It wasn't the one I would have wanted, but I understand it. It's how it had to be done and by that I don't mean I didn't like it, I just felt sorry for the rest of it. But, it was definitely a story I would go back to, I loved reading it. I enjoyed it and connected with it, so I recommend reading it.
