Hansel & Gretel Review ESP/ENG
Hello, hello, people of the internet! How are you? Today I'd like to share with you my opinion about one of the Brothers Grimm's most famous tales, which I had heard as a child because my mother told it to me. However, this tale has been passed down so much from generation to generation that I feel some of its original elements may have been lost. So I decided to look it up on my own and read it. It's a version as faithful as possible to the earliest versions of the tale.
¡Hola Hola, gente de internet! ¿Cómo están? Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes mi opinión acerca de uno de los cuentos más famosos de los Hermanos Grimm, el cuál yo había escuchado de niña porque mi mamá me lo contaba, pero este cuento ha pasado tanto de generación en generación que siento que algunos de sus elementos originales pudieron haberse perdido, así que me propuse buscarlo por mi cuenta y leerlo, es una versión lo más fidedigna posible a las primeras versiones del cuento.
In case you don't know, Hansel and Gretel are two siblings who live in a cabin in the woods with their woodcutter father and his new wife, this woman was mean and didn't love the children, so she asked her husband to abandon them in the woods, but the first time there was no success because Hansel was very clever and left stones on his way home, however the next time he could only leave breadcrumbs that were eaten by the animals in the forest, and this way the children were lost. After a long walk Hansel and Gretel found a house, but when they got close enough they were caught by an evil witch who wanted to eat them, however thanks again to her cunning, both children managed to defeat her and escape safely.
Por si no lo saben, Hansel y Gretel son dos hermanos que viven en una cabaña en el bosque con su padre leñador y su nueva esposa, esa mujer era mala y no quería a los niños, así que le pidió a su esposo que los abandonara en el bosque, pero la primera vez no hubo éxito ya que Hansel era muy astuto y dejaba en su camino algunas piedras para seguir el camino a casa, sin embargo en la siguiente ocasión solo pudo dejar migas de pan que fueron comidas por los animales del bosque, y de esta manera los niños quedaron perdidos. Luego de una larga caminata Hansel y Gretel encontraron una casa, pero al acercarse lo suficiente fueron atrapados por una malvada bruja que quería comerlos, sin embargo gracias de nuevo a la astucia, ambos niños logran derrotarla y escapar a salvo.
The tale has an impressive wealth of elements, it is made for children but it does not skimp on violence or terror (we already know the Brothers Grimn, right? 😄) but there are too many things that it refers to and that at the same time could be useful in modern life to get out of dangerous situations, for example, it warns children about strangers and their possible bad intentions, that they should not be fooled by appearances (elderly or apparently vulnerable people) that they have to be cautious, but at the same time it also serves to warn adults about instilling in their children the value of cunning to be able to solve any dangerous situation, warn them about the dangers and give possible solutions so that they anticipate the facts.
El cuento tiene una riqueza de elementos impresionante, está hecho para niños pero no escatima en violencia o terror (ya conocemos a los hermanos Grimn, ¿verdad? 😄) pero hay demasiadas cosas a las que hace referencia y que a su vez podrían servir en la vida moderna para salir de situaciones peligrosas, por ejemplo, advierte a los niños sobre los extraños y sus posibles malas intenciones, que no deben dejarse llevar por las apariencias (personas ancianas o aparentemente vulnerables) que tienen que ser precavidos, pero al mismo tiempo también sirve para advertir a los adultos acerca de inculcar en sus hijos el valor de la astucia para poder solventar cualquier situación peligrosa, advertirles sobre los peligros y dar posibles soluciones para que se anticipen a los hechos.
I like the story because it's not the typical one about rescued princesses and dragons. This one goes further and shows us a more real picture, exploring important and difficult themes such as abandonment and poverty, but also the lack of empathy. For example, the woodcutter's wife suggested abandoning the children in the forest because they had no way to feed them, but she only did it because they weren't her children. A mother prefers to suffer hunger but give her children the little food she can get. I also consider this important because it allows child readers to understand that not all people in the world have the same privileges, that hunger, poverty, and deprivation exist.
Me gusta el cuento porque no es el típico sobre princesas rescatadas y dragones, este va más allá y nos muestra un panorama más real, explorando temas importantes y difíciles como el abandono y la pobreza, pero también la falta de empatía, por ejemplo la esposa del leñador sugirió abandonar a los niños en el bosque porque no tenían como alimentarlos, pero solo lo hizo porque no eran hijos de ella, una madre prefiere padecer hambre pero darle a sus hijos la poca comida que consiga. Esto también lo considero importante porque le permite a los niños lectores entender que no todas las personas en el mundo cuentan con los mismos privilegios, que existe el hambre, la pobreza y las carencias.
In my opinion, the witch represents the challenges and difficulties that people have to face on their path to independence, while Hansel and Gretel represent resilience, cunning, and the importance of friendship in brotherhood. They survived because they were together and trusted each other.
En mi opinión la bruja representa los desafíos y las dificultades que tienen que enfrentar las personas en su camino hacia la independencia, mientras que Hansel y Gretel representan la resiliencia, la astucia y la importancia de la amistad en la hermandad, sobrevivieron porque estaban juntos y confiaban el uno en el otro.

He leído varias versiones de este cuento y me gusta mucho, porque aunque parece una trama oscura, deja un mensaje muy profundo. Aquí se ve el sentido de astucia y supervivencia.
