Extraordinary Tales by Edgar Allan Poe [Unboxing and Book Review]
Hi Hive Book Club people, I recently bought a couple of books that I would like to talk to you about, one is The Perfume but the other one caught my attention a bit more so I started reading it that same day. It is a collection of short stories by Edgar Alan Poe, and the truth is that I found it very interesting, so today I will talk about it 😃.
Hola gente de Hive Book Club, hace poco compré un par de libros de los que me gustaría hablarles, uno es El perfume pero el otro llamó un poco más mi atención así que empecé a leerlo ese mismo día. Se trata de una recopilación de cuentos de Edgar Alan Poe, y la verdad es que me resultó muy interesante, así que hoy hablaré sobre el 😃
I was excited as soon as I saw it on the shelf of the bookstore, so I did not hesitate to buy it, and that same day I got home I took it out of the box and removed the plastic wrapper so I could enjoy reading it, immersing myself in the lurid literary world of Alan Poe. The book brings a compendium of many tales or stories, but being totally honest with you I must tell you that some of them seemed very good to me but others not so much, mostly because of its slow narrative.
Me entusiasmé en cuanto lo vi en la estantería de la librería, así que no dudé en adquirirlo, y ese mismo día que llegué a casa lo saqué de la caja y retiré el envoltorio plástico que tiene para poder disfrutar de la lectura sumergiéndome en el escabroso mundo literario de Alan Poe. El libro trae un compendio de muchos cuentos o historias, pero siendo totalmente honesta con ustedes debo decirles que algunas de ellas me parecieron muy buenas pero otras no tanto, más que todo por su narrativa lenta.

The Well and the Pendulum

I like that the book has big letters with expressive typography, which makes reading more eye-catching and easy, it also comes with some illustrations and a nice bookmark 😍.
Me gusta que el libro tiene letras grandes con una tipografía expresiva, lo que hace que la lectura sea más llamativa y fácil, también viene con algunas ilustraciones y un bonito marca libros 😍.
Of all the stories that make up this book I think my favorite is this "The Tell-Tale Heart" as the protagonist is imprisoned but is gradually discovering where he is, this story being written in first person, from the point of view of the protagonist, we as readers discover the mystery along with him, and also increases the terror and suspense as he realizes his situation.
De todas las historias que conforman este libro creo que mi favorita es esta "El Corazón delator" ya que el protagonista está encarcelado pero va descubriendo poco a poco dónde se encuentra, este cuento al estar escrito en primera persona, desde el punto de vista del protagonista, nosotros como lectores descubrimos el misterio junto con él, y asimismo se va incrementando el terror y el suspenso conforme él se da cuenta de su situación.
The Raven is one of the poems of this famous author that I like very much and its simplicity makes it quite interesting, a letter of questions only answered with a repetitive phrase "Never again" makes this poem something different. I think the raven as a symbolic resource represents death, loss, pain and despair. In this way the whole story is full of symbolisms that lead to the same point, the pain of an important loss.
El cuervo es uno de los poemas de este célebre autor que me gusta mucho y es que su simpleza lo hace bastante interesante, una carta de interrogantes solo contestadas con una frase repetitiva "Nunca más" hace de este poema algo diferente. Creo que el cuervo como un recurso simbólico representa la muerte, la pérdida, el dolor y la desesperación. De esta manera todo el cuento está lleno de simbolismos que conducen a un mismo punto, el dolor de una pérdida importante.

Poe's horror is subtle and let's say it is not very frightening for the standards we maintain today regarding this genre, however, his narrative has a particular elegance that I like a lot. the story "The Truth about the Case of Mr. Valdemar" puts us in the feet of a psychiatrist who tries to make an experiment with a dying man through hypnosis, the particular thing is that the man is not only hypnotized but dies but still his consciousness continues with those present in the room 😱.
El terror de Poe es sutil y digamos que es poco atemorizante para los estándares que mantenemos hoy en día con respecto a este género, sin embargo, su narrativa tiene una elegancia particular que me gustan mucho. el relato "La Verdad sobre el Caso del señor Valdemar" nos pone en los pies de un psiquiatra que intenta hacer un experimento con un hombre moribundo a través de la hipnosis, lo particular es que el hombre no solo es hipnotizado sino que muere pero aún así su consciencia continúa con los presentes en la habitación 😱

Está otra historia me generó una sensación rara, podía imaginar perfectamente cada descripción y por algún motivo todo lo imaginaba de una forma lúgubre y con un estilo particular 😄, de hecho creo que voy a dibujar un día las escenas porque las tengo en mi mente plasmadas 😃. Se trata de un grupo de nobles que aunque el mundo afuera está en destrucción por causa de la muerte, ellos deciden no tomarle importancia y hacer una fiesta, sin embargo el desenlace es tan predecible como espeluznante.
The truth is that I have yet to read some of the stories because work doesn't leave me enough time to read but these have been my favorites so far, as I told you, the author's narrative is not scary by today's standards but it is very attractive, elegant and entertaining 😊.
La verdad aún me falta leer algunos de los relatos porque el trabajo no me deja tiempo suficiente para leer pero estos han sido mis preferidos de los que llevo hasta ahora, como les dije, la narrativa del autor no resulta aterradora para los estándares que tenemos hoy en día pero sí resulta muy atractiva, elegante y entretenida 😊
