MY READING PROJECT FOR 2026 (En - Es)

Hello, good morning to the entire Hive reading community. I hope you had a wonderful 2026, wishing you many blessings and prosperity.

Until now, 2024 had been one of the least active years in my reading routine, referring exclusively to physical books, since I am very active in digital reading on a daily basis. But 2025 sadly surpassed it, because I was only able to finish one of the books I had put on hold. I reiterate that this low activity is due to changes in my daily routine, which is undergoing more and more transformations each day. Entrepreneurial ventures and physical activity outside the home have kept me away from my project of enjoying so many untouched books resting in my library.

A few days ago, I resumed that daily reading project, hoping to complete it in this new year. I'm going to share a summary of the books I was able to read in 2025 and those I'm still putting on hold, as well as those I've already managed to read this month, and other works I've selected for the rest of the year.

BOOKS I READ IN 2025

This is the list of books I had put on hold since 2024 and picked up again last year:

1.- One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez
2.- The Leopard by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa
3.- Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
4.- Digital Fortress by Dan Brown

Of the four mentioned on this list, I only finished One Hundred Years of Solitude in 2025. Besides being the longest of all the books I was reading, I didn't have a chance to finish the others, only make a little progress. Regarding "One Hundred Years of Solitude," I published a summary and analysis of this valuable work by Gabriel García Márquez in this same community.

SELECTED BOOKS FOR 2026

I reviewed some texts I've wanted to read for a while and made a careful selection, choosing from some I'm unfamiliar with and others I'd briefly read during my student days, but with the desire to read them at my leisure.

I also revisited books I had put on hold for over a year, with the aim of seriously resuming my reading. I continued working on some of them, but I won't rush them so I can savor them properly.

This new selection is part of my collection of literary classics, which includes works that, although I'm familiar with them, I've never actually read. Here are the lists:

Works on Hiatus Now Resumed:

1.- The Leopard by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa: Its main theme refers to the fall of the aristocracy and the power shifts that occurred during the unification of Italy at the end of the 19th century.

2.- Twilight by Stephenie Meyer: It is the fictional story of a forbidden love between a human teenager and a vampire, which led them to face many dangers to protect their love.

3.- Digital Fortress by Dan Brown: It is a work that recounts the creation of a digital code used to monitor the country's inhabitants by a security agency. The creator was unaware of the true purpose of his invention and threatened to make it public. A cryptographer was hired to decipher the code and began to uncover a large number of secrets that give the plot a great deal of suspense.

Selected Works for 2026:

1.- Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne: This classic novel recounts the adventures of a professor who, along with his two companions, deciphers an ancient manuscript and travels through a volcano into the Earth's interior, where they encounter a prehistoric subterranean world filled with strange creatures, jungles, and dark oceans.

2.- Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert: This novel tells the story of a woman who dreamed of a life different from the one she led with her father, and later her husband, and begins having clandestine affairs with other men, leading to a tragic end.

3.- Don Quixote of La Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes: This is the most famous novel in Hispanic literature, and it tells the story of a poor nobleman who went mad from reading stories of chivalry and, confusing reality with fantasy, decides to become a knight-errant alongside his faithful servant.

4.- Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens: This novel tells the story of an orphan boy who grew up in a London orphanage and went through many difficult situations, from life in the orphanage itself, then falling into the hands of a gang, and finally discovering his true origins.

5.- Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky: This novel tells the story of a poor man who, feeling powerful, murdered a pawnbroker to rob her. Afterward, he began to suffer from guilt, and the mental torture was driving him mad. He only found peace in confession and the love of a woman.

6.- The Witches by Roald Dahl: This story follows an orphaned boy who lives with his grandmother, who possesses magical knowledge. They discover that a group of witches disguised as ordinary women are trying to turn children into mice, and they devise a plan to stop them.

Interestingly, because it's not one of the books I was putting on hold, I'm actually finishing one of these new works. I had briefly skimmed it years ago, and I'm about to write a summary and analysis. It's Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert.

Hola, muy buenos días a toda la comunidad lectora de Hive. Espero que hayan recibido un maravilloso año 2026, deseándoles muchas bendiciones y prosperidad.

Hasta ahora el año 2024 había sido uno de los más inactivos en mi rutina lectora, refiriéndome exclusivamente a los textos en físico, ya que a diario soy muy activa en la lectura digital, pero el año 2025 tristemente lo sobrepasó, porque sólo pude culminar una obra de las que tenía en pausa. Reitero que esta baja actividad es debido a los cambios en mi rutina diaria, que cada día sufre más transformaciones, siendo los emprendimientos y la actividad física fuera de la casa, los que me han apartado de ese proyecto que tenía de disfrutar tantos libros vírgenes que reposan en mi biblioteca.

Hace unos días retomé ese proyecto de lectura diaria, esperando cumplirlo en este nuevo año. Les voy a compartir un resumen de los textos que pude leer en el 2025 y los que siguen en pausa, así como también los que ya he logrado leer este mes, y otras obras que seleccioné para el resto del año.

LIBROS QUE LEÍ EN EL 2025

Ésta es la lista de libros que había dejado en pausa desde 2024 y que retomé el año pasado:

1.- Cien años de soledad de Gabriel García Márquez
2.- El gatopardo de Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa
3.- Crepúsculo de Stephenie Meyer
4.- La fortaleza digital de Dan Brown

De los cuatro mencionados en esta lista, únicamente culminé la obra “Cien años de soledad” en el 2025, aparte de ser la más larga de todas las que estaba leyendo, no tuve chance de concretar las otras, sólo avanzar un poco en sus líneas. Al respecto de “Cien años de soledad”, en esta misma comunidad publiqué un resumen y el análisis de esta valiosa obra de Gabriel García Márquez.

LIBROS SELECCIONADOS PARA EL 2026

Revisé algunos textos que quería leer desde hace un tiempo, e hice una delicada selección entre algunos que no conozco, y otros que ya había leído en forma breve desde los tiempos de estudio, pero con el deseo de leerlos con tranquilidad.

También revisé las obras pausadas desde hace más de un año, con el fin de retomar seriamente mi actividad lectora. Les seguí dando curso a algunos, pero no iré con prisa para disfrutarlos bien.

La nueva selección forma parte de mi colección de clásicos de la literatura, donde hay obras que aunque conozco, jamás he leído. A continuación las listas:

Obras en pausa retomadas:

1.- El gatopardo de Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa: Cuyo tema principal hace referencia a la caída de la aristocracia y los cambios que surgieron en el poder durante la unificación de Italia, a fines del siglo XIX.

2.- Crepúsculo de Stephenie Meyer: Es la historia ficticia de un amor prohibido entre una adolescente humana, y un vampiro, que los llevó a enfrentar muchos peligros por proteger su amor.

3.- La fortaleza digital de Dan Brown: Es una obra que relata la creación de un código digital utilizado para vigilar a los habitantes del país, por parte de una agencia de seguridad. El creador no conocía los fines de su invento, y amenazó con hacerlo público. Una criptógrafa fue contratada para descifrar el código y comenzó a descubrir una gran cantidad de secretos que le dan a la trama mucho suspenso.

Obras seleccionadas para el 2026:

1.- Viaje al centro de la tierra de Julio Verne: Es un clásico que relata las aventuras de un profesor quien junto a sus dos acompañantes logran descifrar un manuscrito antiguo y viajan a través de un volcán hacia el interior del planeta donde se encuentran con un mundo subterráneo prehistórico lleno de extrañas criaturas, selvas y océanos tenebrosos.

2.- Madame Bovary de Gustave Flaubert: Narra la historia de una mujer que soñaba con una vida diferente a la que llevaba junto a su padre, y posteriormente su esposo, y comienza a tener aventuras clandestinas con otros hombres lo que conlleva esta situación a un desenlace trágico.

3.- Don Quijote de La Mancha de Miguel de Cervantes: Es la novela más famosa de la literatura hispana, y nos narra las aventuras de un hidalgo pobre que enloqueció por leer historias de caballerías y confundiendo la realidad con la fantasía, decide convertirse en un caballero andante junto a su fiel servidor.

4.- Oliver Twist de Charles Dickens: Relata la historia de un niño huérfano que creció en un orfanato de Londres, y pasó por muchas situaciones difíciles, desde la misma vida en el orfanato, luego cayó en manos de unos pandilleros y finalmente descubrió su verdadero origen.

5.- Crimen y castigo de Fiódor Dostoyevski: Relata la historia de un hombre pobre que sintiéndose poderoso, asesinó a una mujer que era prestamista para robarle. Posteriormente, comenzó a sufrir el sentimiento de culpa y la tortura mental lo estaba enloqueciendo. Sólo consiguió calma en la confesión, y el amor de una mujer.

6.- Las brujas de Roald Dahl: Cuenta la historia de un niño que era huérfano y vivía junto a su abuela que sabía de magia. Ellos descubrieron que un grupo de brujas disfrazadas de mujeres normales querían convertir a los niños en ratones y comenzaron a hacer un plan para evitarlo.

Curiosamente, porque no es alguna de las que estaban en pausa, ya una de estas nuevas obras la estoy terminando porque la había hojeado brevemente años atrás, y estoy por hacer un resumen y el análisis de ella. Se trata de Madame Bovary, de Gustave Flaubert.
