Needed something else to do

Being stuck in the same routine can be exhausting. I needed something new to excite me. Let my brain take a detour, enjoy the scenery a little bit before going back on the highway doing its (coding) thing again. While parousing Programming & Dev Community I came across @steevc's post about his little bot. If you are interested in #proofofbrain I encourage you to read the linked post.

To my brain: meet the brian!

In his posting @steevc linked an image consisting of seven brians. For illustrative purpose, here it is again:

Brians

He asked if anyone can name all the brians. Well, heck of a chance. Or is it?

Two names immediately stood out to me. First of all Brian Johnson of course, second came Brian May. Both being musicians. One other Brian looked familiar and it took me a day to make the connection. Brian Cox is a physicist. I made the connection via Matt Parker and the TV show QI, both of which I followed over the years. After naming three of them I thought that was a good quota but the challenge was to name them all.

Three more kind of looked familiar but I could not make any connection until (noone tell me ever again there is no such thing as coincidence) I went for some "old" music playlist for doing the chores yesterday. Music has this fascinating ability to trigger long hidden memories. I recognised Brian Wilson from a Music Documentary. Yes, I'm a geek, I not only listen to music but am interested in how it is made and who made it.

Four out of seven, three more to go.

I was a little bit ashamed I didn'T recognize Brian Eno right away. But in my defense, he looked very different in that young age.

Brian Cox somehow eluded me until I made the movie connection. Like the picture of Brian Eno it looked like a still from a movie so I went down that road in my research. Yeah, should have recognized him from X-Men 2.

One more to go and I was clueless. Yes, I turned to google image search. Don't know if that is allowed for this "contest"? But the result confirmed my suspicion: I had no chance of knowing Brian Cant.

Anyways, there you have it:

  • Brian Cox
  • Brian May
  • Brian Eno
  • Brian Cox
  • Brian Wilson
  • Brian Cant
  • Brian Johnson

I asked deepai.org Character Generator for "brian" and it gives me the header images you see above. Interesting similar features. Since I also have such a beard and even wear glasses like the last guy I wonder if I am a Brian myself. Who knows? 😉

Just to be on the save side and to find out if I ever triggered @steevc's bot I will put the #proofofbrian tag on this posting on purpose. I honestly don't know if I ever did so by accident in the past. Yet to this post it seems fitting since this defintately is a proof of brian posting.

Well, that's it for today. Thanks for reading, maybe you even enjoyed this detour of my brain a little bit. For me it's back into the action of daily routine and preparing for christmas.

Happy Holidays everyone.

avatar.pngAs a sloth Hannes does not post that much but when he does he tries making a buzz about it.
In his free time he is working on his Python skills and busy improving the @hug.bot code. His family and coworkers are sometimes cause for interesting postings and whenever inspiration strikes he's good for an entertaining rant about random stuff that just comes to his mind.

Well done. There was an easy way to cheat as all the names are in the bot source code. Brian Cant was big in kids' TV when I was young.

Thank you, much appreciated. 😁

Oh, is the source available? I checked the bots profile but could not find it. Mind giving me a hint? If it's findable, I don't mind that being the hint, either. 😉

From the fact that I didn't get a reminder to use the right tag I take it I already used the wrong one in the past? Or is there a check if the original #proofofbrain is missing while the typo is present? Would be reasonable to put that in the conditional in which case I "screwed up the screwup" 😆

Thanks.

Winter is a busy time for my brain, not much to do around the house or in the garden. 😉

Yes, AI pictures make it much easier, I'm not very artistic. Even more important to point out that it is AI and not my own work. Don't want anyone to think I can paint like that in any way. 😊
