entry smash 383: some summery shallow shadows

(Edited)

there is a path along the mouth of Lågen river where it empties into Larviksfjorden. parts of the shore on both sides of the river have small but very nice sand beaches

but the currents are too strong and dangerous for swimming. since it was a warm day i felt the least i could do was give my shadow a chance to cool off in the sparkling water

while i stood waiting i noticed how interesting patterns were forming where the quickly flowing fresh river water met the dying incoming waves of the salt fjord- the above photo is my contest entry

the patterns on the surface created subtle shadows on the sandy bottom so while my shadow was quite stable the play of light and shadow on the underwater sand was continuously changing

that was fun but next time i will be sure to go to a place where i also can take a dip without fear of getting pulled under and swept out to sea

thanks a lot. yes i was very surprised by the patterns on the water and managed to place my shadow just right to give the appearance of being connected to if not the source of the unique waves

What a great job!
I even felt the temperature of the place and its reflections!

Look at that clear sparkling water! I'll bet it was cold. These are marvelous shadow photos!

the path along the mouth of the river/harbor also features scattered posts of poems related to the sea. the ones carved in larvite stone are permanent while others are on tasteful signboards are displayed for a limited time. it's a very nice place to walk
