a typical morning routine in the kitchen is to put away the dishes that were washed the night before then make some nice chai and enjoy it on the back steps as we observe the morning birds in the back garden.

here in India the kitchenware is mainly stainless steel. plates, bowls, pots, tablewre, storage containers of various sizes are all stainless steel. it took some getting used to coming from Norway and i still prefer drinking water from a glass made of glass. but i have gotten used to steel dinner plates. in fact i am more likely to be served on a banana leaf than on a ceramic plate. such is life here.

well the morning sun shines through our kitchen window and as i was putting away the various stell articles i notice some very interesting play of reflections between a dinner plate and a large storage container.

so i put them next to each other outside on the kadappa table by the entrance. when i moved them around a little i got some extraordinary looking effects. the reflections may appear quite illogical but there are no tricks involved, it's straight forward physics. i am sure it's all predictable if only you know how.
