Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love covers all faults.

Hello community architecture and design lover, this time I share with you my visit to a town in the state of Sucre, Venezuela, called Los Arroyos.

It is a town that is characterized by agricultural and fishing activity, its name is Los Arroyos. It is to mention that it owes its name to the number of streams that were on the ground and progressively by the construction 🏗️ of houses, roads these were disappearing.

Even today there are rivers nearby that remind us of the origin of this beautiful land 🌎. It is located in the municipality of Benítez, whose capital is El Pilar.
Its geographical location gives it a tropical and mountain climate. The Benítez municipality is part of the Paria peninsula, one of the two peninsulas that make up the state of Sucre.

The town of Los Arroyos is approximately two hundred years old. In spite of being a small town it has a strategic location since it is located on the national highway that goes from Carúpano to Guiria.
It is worth mentioning that it has characteristics of the colonial towns, the church, the square and an acoustic shell where young people, children and people of the town gather to have fun.

The national highway coincides with the main street of the town called El Paraíso. This street is characterized by its colorful houses with different architectural designs. In the evening at sunset the scenery is really impressive. The green of the mountain and the mist that in rainy seasons ⛈️ creates a beautiful landscape worth admiring..

Most of the town's population lives on Paradise Street. This street has a very striking feature that is made of concrete and adorned with terracotta.

The houses are mostly owner-built family homes and a small percentage built by national government-funded housing programs. Previously most of this land was used for agricultural activities. Currently, the land has been occupied by housing and agricultural activity is limited to the sectors known as bajos, which are agricultural lands regularly located very close to rivers in order to have access to water and irrigate the plants.

An outstanding element in this street are the constructions of the houses since they have particular characteristics that differentiate them from each other, you can find one-story houses as well as two-story houses, which besides being residential are also dedicated to commerce, which is an activity that in recent years has been emerging in this population.

In addition to agriculture and fishing, this town is also characterized by the elaboration of cocoa in an artisanal way since the lands or haciendas as they call it, cocoa is harvested, one of the best in Venezuela.

During the harvest season which corresponds to the last quarter of the year you can buy the famous cocoa balls 100% handmade by outstanding people and ladies of the town who have a vast experience in the elaboration of cocoa.

Cocoa balls can be used to prepare various desserts as well as hot chocolate 🍫. In this town, the classic architecture of houses with conical roofs and regularly made of asbestos stands out, although in recent years it has been replaced by a reinforced concrete plate. Also on the porches or in front of the house they place bars with different designs and chaguaramos are widely used to decorate the houses. In addition, the tiles are used to decorate the main façade or front.

Another relevant aspect in the architecture of this beautiful town are the chaguaramos, as I already mentioned, which are found in several houses, thus decorating the houses and giving them a beautiful appearance. Visiting this beautiful town was a great experience since its climate and the warmth of its friendly people are unforgettable.
In addition, the agricultural environment that develops there allows the visitor a pleasant climate and in cocoa harvest seasons enjoy this delicious fruit.

During my visit I coincided with the avocado harvest 🥑 which is one of my favorite fruits and I was able to eat a lot of it.

May God bless you and see you on the next tour.
