Today I want to tell you how Italians prepare for winter. As you already know, I work and live in the small town of Spinea, which is not far from Venice.
From the very spring until now, works on the insulation of buildings have been going on. This is a state program, fully paid from the local city budget. In addition to the fact that the entire house is covered with foam, all windows and doors will also be replaced. This is done for the good of people because the prices of gas and electricity are very high. So that the population does not pay huge sums in winter for heating their homes. The state thinks for its people and helps them in every possible way.

Сьогодні хочу розповісти вам як італійці готуються до зими. Як ви вже знаєте, я працюю та живу в невеличкому містечку Спінея що знаходиться недалеко від Венеції.
З самої весни і до теперішнього часу проходять роботи з утеплення будинків. Це державна програма, повністю оплачується за рахунок місцевого міського бюджету. Крім того що весь будинок обкладаються пінопласту то ще й буде замінено всі вікна та двері. Це робиться для блага людей тому що ціни на газ та електрику дуже високі. Щоб населення не платило величезні суми взимку за отоплення помешкань. Держава думає за свій народ і всіляко їм допомагає.

The company erected facade scaffolding for the entire height of the building so that workers could work from the first to the last floor without obstacles. I saw the entire work process. After all, the walls of our apartment were also insulated.

Весь величезний будинок на 4 поверхи затягнутий білою сіткою, яка захищає від попадання у вікна та на балкони будівельного сміття. На всю висоту будинку компанія спорудила фасадні риштування для того щоб робітники могли працювати від першого до останнього поверху без перешкод. Я бачила весь процес роботи. Адже стіни нашої квартири також утеплювали.

The material is delivered on huge pallets, folded into a parallelepiped, wrapped in film. This is foam. It is dark gray and blue in color. It is produced by Isosystem. Workers also use special glue.

For greater reliability, holes are drilled in the walls with electric drills, and then huge nails are hammered in.
And when they start to rub these new foam walls with special graters, you have to close all the windows and doors, because small peas of foam will fill all the rooms. Then it's so hard to clean it all up. Styrofoam balls fly like they are alive!
Only a duster can handle them!

Для більшої надійності електричними дрелями свердлять отвори в стінах, а потім забивають величезні цвяхи.
А коли починають спеціальними тертками терти ці піпонластові нові стіни то треба закривати всі вікна і двері тому що дрібні горошини пінопласту заповнять всі кімнати. Потім так важко це все прибрати. Кульки пінопласту літають як живі!
Тільки порохотяг з ними і справляється!

Of course, residents complain about constant noise from doors or hammers. Everyone is waiting for the completion of construction. But it will not be so soon. They promised that by the new year. So you will have to suffer.
Now when it's real hell outside, it's hard for workers to work. The air temperature reaches 36°C in the shade. And the workers have to do hard work in the sun, where the temperature is much higher. Residents help as much as they can. For example, they give cold mineral water or make coffee. The guys don't complain because it's their job. They have a good salary. And they are happy to work.

Звичайно, мешканці нарікають на постійний шум то від дверей чи молотків. Всі чекають на завершення будівництва. Але це буде ще не так скоро. Обіцяли що до нового року. Так що прийдеться потерпіти.
Зараз коли надворі справжнє пекло робітникам тяжко працювати. Температура повітря сягає до 36°С в затінку. А робітникам треба виконувати важку роботу і на сонці, де температура значно вища. Мешканці допомагають чим можуть. Наприклад дають холодну мінеральну воду або готують каву. Хлопці не жаліються адже це їхня робота. В них хороша зарплата. І вони раді працювати.

So the proverb "Prepare a sled in the summer" can be the motto of this state program on building insulation!
