Bolivar Square of Santa Cruz de Aragua and Claudio Castillo Cultural Center
I am coming to the end of the tour I made through several municipalities in the state of Aragua in search of architectural gems that were of interest to this community. If we take a look at my last posts related to the world of architecture, we can see that there are only squares, and I must clarify that these municipalities that I toured are not necessarily the most advanced from the point of view of infrastructure, definitely the strong point of this point is in the city of Maracay and about that city I have already shared almost everything I have managed to record and share with you, however, I will not underestimate the municipal squares, each has its charm and surely its inhabitants are very proud of what they have.
So after driving several kilometers, we arrived to the city of Santa Cruz, we walked around its streets and did not find something that could really be worthwhile from an architectural point of view, however, the squares of the different municipalities of my country always offer something interesting, so, as it could not be different, we arrived to the Bolivar square of Santa Cruz, and well, I have already explained several times why the name “Bolivar” is so popular in this region, so if you are curious you can see my previous posts.
In the previous photos you could see the common areas of the square, and well, from my point of view they do not have anything that is special or striking, but they definitely fulfill the function for the public in terms of being a space for rest, to relax and even ideal for walking, I say this because it is a large square with many green areas, in addition, the large trees provide shade in virtually all sectors, although that obviously depends on the time of day.
Now, the central event in this square is definitely the monument to the liberator Simon Bolivar, the statue has a good size and is in perfect condition of paint and maintenance, the structure in which it stands is quite dignified and as in most of them, has metal plates with writings that right now is not worth detailing, but usually are information of birth, achievements and death. Another element that calls the attention is the circular structure that surrounds the statue, there are a total of ten pillars that give deserved majesty to a man who was so important in this country. I must say that this circular structure is unique because in other squares (and I have been to many) there is nothing like it, so that makes this one very original.
As a bonus, I want to show you the house of culture Claudio Castillo, it is located one block from the Bolivar square and fulfills the function of showing cultural elements of the region to all its visitors, I did not have the opportunity to enter, but I could register the outside of this structure that evidently shows signs of good maintenance, is perfectly painted and is intact in structure which at first glance highlights its colonial style, and well, it is undoubtedly one of the most important architectural elements of the municipality.
This is how I share with you the spaces of a very discreet municipality of my country, believe me that if it were not for this post you would hardly see photos of this place because it has very little exposure. There is still something to share about this town, but that will be next week, for now, I say goodbye wishing you all happy holidays, a big hug!
