Double Trouble

The concept of double dating has become a widely accepted social phenomenon, but I strongly believe it's a practice that has been grossly abused. In my opinion, every individual should know their worth and understand how it's valued and respected. Unfortunately, the lack of discipline in my generation has led to a devaluation of personal worth.

People's self-worth has become as volatile as the naira, fluctuating wildly without any sense of stability or self-respect. To truly understand one's value, it's essential to come from a standpoint of dominion, where one's core values are reflected. These values should be rare, scarce, shiny, and glittering, held in high regard.

The term "double dating" is often used unashamedly, but I believe it's a concept that's fundamentally flawed from the start. The idea of two couples dating simultaneously is not only misguided but also undermines the very foundations of a healthy relationship. As the Bible says, "A man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife" (Matthew 19:5). This scripture emphasizes the importance of a monogamous relationship between two mature adults.

Every relationship should be viewed from the standpoint of marriage, with the ultimate goal of building a lifelong partnership. However, many relationships today are founded on misconceptions and a lack of focus. Two unprepared individuals meet, and without a clear vision for their future, they embark on a relationship that's doomed to fail.

As a Christian, I believe that the concept of double dating is not only unbiblical but also unwise. The scripture clearly states, "Husband of one wife" (1 Timothy 3:2). It's essential to prioritize what's truly important and focus on building a meaningful relationship with one person.

Double dating is not a viable or healthy concept. If a relationship isn't aligned with one's vision for marriage, it's best to reevaluate and prioritize what's truly important. By doing so, we can build stronger, more meaningful relationships that honor our values and respect our worth.

Let thy joy be built up from within not in finding substitutes, In contrast, double dating can lead to emotional fragmentation, confusion, and hurt. By pursuing multiple relationships, we risk spreading ourselves too thin, neglecting our own emotional needs, and compromising our values. Moreover, double dating can be a Band-Aid solution for deeper issues, such as fear of commitment, low self-esteem, or a lack of purpose.
