Traditional marriage||My best choice

Greetings!

Marriage is an institution of God and this particular institution is one of the foremost institutions of God. It's one of the most cherished institutions of God and this is because it involves the people that were created in the image of God, man and woman.

Having said that, I would like to delve into what marriage really entails. Marriage is the coming together of two matured people of opposite sex and according to the Holy bible in “Gen 2:18,” marriage can be seen as a way of creating helpmeet for man and it's there we came to know that God created woman out of the man's rib.

So, marriage is not just ordinary or a mere relationship, it's a institution of God on earth which is meant to bring forth fruit to replenish the earth and fill the surface of the earth.

Now, having shed more light on the institution called marriage, I would like to go down memory lane and this time around, I would like to go by to my primary school days where we were taught marriage and its types. Back then, we were taught that there's three types of marriage which are the traditional marriage, the court marriage and the religious marriage. These three types of marriages have their ways of being carried out.

For instance, the court marriage is being carried out in the marriage registry as we all know. And for this type of marriage, there's rule and regulations that would be read to the couples to know what they are about to enter into. This marriage is being coordinated by the officials in the registry. It's the legal form of marriage

Aside the first type of marriage which is the court or the legal marriage, the religious marriage is another type of marriage. This form of engaging two matured people is always done in religious ways and it's not limited to a particular religion alone.

But as for me, the best way of joining people together in marriage as far as I'm concerned is that of traditional marriage. Apart from being the ancient way of joining people together in marriage, it's always been the best and most recognized way of joining people together in my part of the world.

Also, even this kind of marriage has been in existence right from the inception of the world and in fact, throughout the history of wedding in the holy scripture, I have not really seen where the two aforementioned marriages were being mentioned, but as for the traditional marriage which was mentioned in every part of the Holy scripture where marriage took place.

The marriage at the Cana of Galilee was a traditional marriage, even when the father of faith wanted to get a wife for his son Isaac, it's traditionally motivated.

The relevancy of this type of marriage which is the traditional marriage cannot be overemphasized and this is because of the glamour that used to accompany this kind of marriage. In this type of marriage, everything from the dress or attire put on by the couple and all other attendees are usually traditional in nature with different colour and quality. This alone makes me love the traditional wedding.

Apart from the traditional colour apparels being used being used by the couple and all the witnesses at the ceremony, the marriage can be regarded as the authentic one as it used the witness the groom and his family bringing various gift items to the venue of the occasion. This items are know as the Eru Iyawo in my part of the country. The items used to contain so many things such as home utensils which will be used by the wife after the ceremony, tubers of yam, honey, wrapper, palm oil, salt, catfish, just to mention but a few. All the above listed items are to be brought by the groom and his family to ask for the hand of the bride in marriage.

The traditional marriage is not an ordinary kind of marriage, but rich in cultural practices and many other things. When talking about the traditional marriage, both families are expected to be present, most especially, the parents of the couple and other witnesses and this is because of the important roles to be played by them. In fact there's a lot embedded in it.

Also, the payment of dowry is very important in the traditional marriage system. This is usually the highlight of the traditional marriage process and people believe that without the payment of the dowry, the marriage has not taken place. So, the payment of dowry is the seal to the marriage approval by both families.

So, I prefer traditional marriage to any other marriages.

Thanks for reading.

Wow!
I'm glad hearing your thoughts, your content inspired me a lot!
When it comes to marriage we all have choices to make. Just as you prefer traditional marriage to others.
Traditional marriage is kind of mandatory I guess!
I love the fact, that's rich in culture.
