Beyond Resolutions, Making Evaluations

Yeah, I know it's the fourth day of the new month, allow me to still wish you a "happy new month". It's wonderful to have made it to February.

It's another opportunity to share on an important theme this week. This prompt is one timely and interesting one. A good job from the management to bring one as such. It's beyond just a prompt but a check as well.

As much as setting goals is good, I think the big deal about this is keeping up with it. I consider that one of the hardest things about setting such goals or perhaps resolutions, in context here, is what it takes to bring it to reality first. Then along the line what it will take to keep up with it.

I guess, sometime last year as the year was winding up, resolutions were made of all kinds. Spanning through different aspects of life - career, finance, relationship and whatnot. Also, through different aspects of an individual's life such as; character, behaviour, habit and the likes. Nevertheless, whatever the nature might be of such resolutions, I believe these holds them in common bond - starting and keeping up.

It's February yeah, the second month of the year. I feel at this point no one should be told of how fast the year is already running. It might seem slow to some persons though, and hey, everyone is entitled to their view.

For me it seemed like last week was new year, we were celebrating, then all of a sudden, fast forward and it's February. I believe that it's time enough already to make an evaluation of those resolutions made some thirty plus days ago.

The saying goes, "the earlier, the better". I can't agree less with that. You know, the misconception about such things with goals and resolutions most times is that we try to wait for some long periods; let's say three months, six months, to start making assessments of those things we've planned.

Funny thing is that at that point we might have been driven far off already from those resolutions made. How then do we get back to them now that we are far off, not just away from the resolutions made, but into the year as well? I guess, that's one of the diagnosis for the incessant failure to achieve many resolutions.

While many were making their resolutions, I wasn't left out. But I had my approach different from previous times. You can find that post here.

It was all a resolve to grow and develop in ways by large and far. I disclosed how it was fitting for me to take them bit by bit rather than a chunk load of things to do. It's a lesson learnt from the years. Through such, I recognised that the little steps and little leaps I could make momentarily are far better than waiting to make some jump or "big hits".

Desiring a growth in several endeavours of life, I shared on two particular areas. It's in line with them that I put this prompt to writing.

One of such was on the hive blockchain. My resolve was in diverse ways and measures; building my hive power, exploring new communities, building some relationships, constant engagements, putting out rich contents daily.

It was a hard time keeping up with them while still doing my best. I've tried to do some good engagements on the platform and I can say I'm faring well in that. New groups were also explored which I made a number of posts in some. I'm still doing well to build my hive power. I can say it's growing; it isn't a one day or one-month job so I'm still moving there. And yeah, I think I'm building some good relationship and connection here. Hope to do better though.

The other aspect pertains to my skills, in graphics design especially. Following a kind of black out from it last year, I decided this year I'm getting back on track. Not just that, but growing as well. It's a competitive world and I can't be caught lagging behind. Through God's help I think I'm getting on track already. A good number of designs I was able to do the past month. And yeah, it feels good to be doing something in that line.

No resolve comes easy except it wasn't worth it. At such, it wasn't easy coping with my resolutions. Keeping up with them seemed a big deal that required a great amount of effort from me. But hey, it's about pushing on relentlessly, because that's what things like this tend to do.

Thank you for reading through!

it's one thing to set goals and it's another thing to achieve them, I prefer setting realistic goals so that at the end, I'll not end up leaving many unfinished..
