The beauty and love of friendship
A friend is anybody who is not a family member or spouse that you enjoy being around them, you have meaningful conversations with them and they encourage you to grow and become the best version of yourself. Friends can be termed as siblings from another mother.
Y'all meet Joy James, my friend with whom I am well pleased. She's the best among the many good friends I've ever had in life. Joy is a great blessing to me, I see her as a gift from God. Such a sweet soul
We met far back as 2018 during my remedials program in the prestigious University of Jos, Jos. And the journey has been awesome. She has encouraged me, blessed me, helped me, challenged me and lifted me many times.
2021
There is age difference between us as you can see she's matured than I am but she humbly stayed around, or rather allowed me stay around. I regard her as my big sister many times.
After our remedials program, while waiting for admission, she jokingly told me that we would be given the same course to study. Behold it was true. We both got admission to study Zoology and that was the backbone of our friendship. We grew stronger together that course mates think we were in a relationship.
This was 2022
It wasn't just a smooth journey, but intentionality and persistence brought us this far.
Here are some nuggets:
- You must be intentional in building relationships: it is not a one way thing, both parties must intentionally work towards growth.
- Be quick to forgive: Offenses are inevitable in every relationship. And so, one must be ready to let go of hurts and offenses when such comes, holding on to hurts will definitely affect the future.
- Learn to appreciate each other: Once in a while, appreciate your friends intentionally through gifts, kind and most importantly words. Tell them how much you cherish them and how much you enjoy their company. This must not be as big as you think. As simple as " I am glad to be friends with you" can go a long way.
2024 done with project work
- Encourage each other: Friendship is more enjoyable when the parties grow together, expand together and begin better together .
- Share opportunities: When you see and opportunity that will be of help to your friend, share it with them, this can be your little part of contribution.
2024 During our sign out
- Celebrate them in times of victories: when they make certain wins, learn to celebrate them and feel honored.
