Meeting the Philosophy Club After Two Years
Yesterday afternoon, I finally had the opportunity to meet again after almost two years. Of course not because of the distance, but because of each of our busy lives as adults who have increasingly demanding roles; I who am busy with my business at my mother's stall, Adang who is busy performing here and there with his music group, Kaifin who is happily pursuing her bachelor's degree, and my beautiful and wisest Dewi Nova is currently involved in many things including movements in the world of feminism and humanitarian activism.
Initially, we made an appointment at a coffee shop called Tomoro, however, after reconsidering, we finally decided to meet at the very cozy and comfortable Koi Fore cafe. We promised to meet at 3 pm at the place, but I had already said in advance that I would arrive a bit late because of my work. They understood because that day was not my day off.
When I arrived, the three of them were already sitting there, and I immediately ordered my coffee. Praline Macchiato Latte.
After my coffee arrived, I joined them who were chatting about their lives. We shook hands and hugged to relieve our longing. Each asked how each other was doing and told each other about their current activities.
Towards evening, our conversation shifted from writing prospects to the realm of philosophy. Dewi Nova is one of the people who took a bachelor's degree in philosophy with a concentration in gender philosophy and theology.
Kaifin and I (coincidentally Adang said goodbye first) coincidentally both of us also have an interest in philosophy, even though it is only a little. So, when Noova told me how she happily took her bachelor's degree. Then, she also planned her thesis, unfortunately, because there was something that made Nova have to give up her education.
However, the important point from all the summaries of this chat is... we learned a lot about the relationship between religion, philosophy, science, and then art and literature. We explored it little by little. According to Nova, when we discuss matters that focus on beliefs, Science helps us think rationally. Although that does not mean we argue about religion and reason. However, we at least have both of them in our thinking power. Then, art and literature see many aspects more with conscience, while philosophy is very good for us to help us understand how other people think.
So much fun, we just finished at 9pm and the rain had stopped outside. Because I still have a 30-minute journey. Thank you very much for reading my writing. See you..
